Apparent DirectX issue

I just recently installed Espana. I have the newest patched version, etc. When I start a new game, I have no issues. But when I attempt to load a game, I get this message: "DirectX to Renderer invalid call (Burst Mode) [ ]." I am using Windows 10, on a very new Alienware machine. I have no problems ...

I just installed 1.05 last night (and the game yesterday, so I had not played the Hannibal mod, though I did play the original when it came out, with no problems). I also got a critical error message, saying I could not load my Saved game. I do not have any Saved games (I rechecked the folder, just ...

My argument is that no one here should tell the developers to take anything (ie feature) out but instead give the option to the player at the start or during the game. Since everyone here is not like you with so little time, it should be up to the player to manage his own time, not pass a vote thro...

Excellent point. To give just one obvious example, Chancellorsville was one of Lee's greatest victories, yet in that battle, he lost 13,000 men to Hooker's approximately 17,000 casualties.

Federal versus Confederate Divisions

Are you going to build into the game the intrinsic differences between Confederate and Union divisions -- notably the fact that the former tended to be much larger than the latter, at least in the East?

This sounds pretty good. It would be interesting if you could recreate the mostly-irregular war fought in Kansas and Missouri. And as you probably know -- since you have clearly done a lot of research -- there were Union partisans too. In some counties, even in the deep South, Confederate government...

And I tend to believe that one of the reasons Lee attempted the disastrous charge of Pickett's and other troops on the third day at Gettysburg was his memory of a similar attack at Gaines Mill (with almost his entire army), during the Seven Days This assault brought him decisive victory against a fo...

In other words one of the key arguments was "States Rights" which you could argue was developed as a result of arguments about slavery. In any case this states rights theory really limited what the Confederate government could "acquire" from the states especially manpower and resources. Yes. One se...

And it was slang for a positive comment as far back as the Civil War. An officer might, in praising his troops, say, "Bully job, boys!"

Or I could just say, "Bien!"

Yes a string of battles was rather rare, only Grant in 1864, i think after the Wilderness started a chain of battles(Spotsylvannia, Cold Harbor), inflicting numerous losses amongst the veterans of the Armies of potomac and Northern virginia. I read somewhere that it was more or less their destructi...

I don't suppose there is any way to replicate the South's most serious problem with their railroads (besides aging equipment and poorly maintained lines, I mean; some tracks were actually made of wood). This was the fact that unlike in the North, where the Federal government had a large degree of co...

The Second South Carolina String Band are the best there are, and good for you in getting their music. I have hired a couple of them twice for events my unit did in Gettysburg, and they are extremely good musicians. I have all of their albums, and can't wait to see the game's playlist! B.C. Milligan

Not as annoying as the movie Gods and Generals , which at the very beginning showed the scene between Robert E. Lee and the Union official offering him command of the U.S. Army. Lee was shown with his white beard and mustache, which he did not have at that time in 1861. Gods and Generals! Now the n...

I don't really care, either, as how many people know the battle flag was square? It's going to look good either way. Sometimes people know too much about a subject, when knowing a bit less would make it more enjoyable. Casse in point -- I am sure not many people were annoyed (as I was) to see Genera...

... but it is the flag that almost everyone associates with the confederacy. Even here in the deep south, I doubt that 10% of the people could tell you that it isn't the 'real' flag. I think I'd leave it for that reason alone. I agree with you, save -- and perhaps you missed this point -- the naval...

In 1865, one Gatling gun cost $1,000. That was a lot of money back then.

The suggestions are nice and most of them planned or already implemented. The rifle / musket difference is already in the firepower / hit power of units over the course of the war. Same for the repeating carbines. Those "events" will appear over the course of the game. I did not know the Union arti...

Mr. Quibble Strikes Again

I know you cannot do everything, and I also know that most of the things hard-core Civil War buffs such as myself might note would not be apparent even to dedicated wargamers. Having admitted this, maybe you can change the Confederate flags you are showing in this art. The flag you are displaying is...

I hope Gatling guns are not very prevalent. Scarcely 20 of them appeared in the whole war (and these not till near the end), and most of those were purchased out of the pocket of General Benjamin Butler, who used them -- a little -- at the siege of Petersburg. They had no impact at all upon any majo...

Slight correction to my nitpick

That should have been, "Shoulder arms, attention," not rest, but anyway, the drill books are all online with good sketches, and perhaps for a future version your artists might take a look at them. As far as light infantry in the Civil War, I am unaware of any regiments with that designation, though ...

Realistic Uniforms

The game itself looks as if it is going to be great. My small quibble is with the "realistic uniforms" as depicted here. They may in fact have come from early war sketches or official specs as to what a uniform might look like, but few of the uniforms, and virtually none of the poses, are realistic....
