Re: The Best AJE Grand Campaign

AJE doesn't really have a grand campaign like other games, but lots of medium and small sized scenarios. On some cases the turn number can be misguiding... There are some extremely long scenarios like the 1st Punic War (more than 200 turns) but with a limited scope ( it plays only on Tunis, Sicily a...

Re: The Best AJE Grand Campaign

2 Punic War is great. My vote goes to that. Caesar Vs Pompey too, but it's not very balanced. Pompey have a hard time there. But if you are playing solo it's not so bad I guess. Don't forget the two three sides scenario with Mithridates, populares and Optimates. They have less turns but are expansiv...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

I agree completely with Bari's. Naval interception order is a problem. It not only makes interception too easy, but it works even with fleets on defensive posture, something I think is a bug. I will recomend a house rule to not use it or at least use it only with fleets in offensive posture. Regards!

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

In game, the roman quinqurremes have Corvus, and are much stronger than the standard carthaginian quinquerremes. I'm not an expert, and not sure if this corvus thing was still in used by romans on the second Punic War. For what i read was used on the first punic war as a way of neutralize the better...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

If i recall correctly not all the roman consuls are both admirals and generals. I think only the ones that acted as admirals historically. But it has been a while since I played it... On the Second Punic war scenario Romans rule the sea indeed , but not because of its admirals but for their quinquer...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

Yes, I was thinking of something like that. In fact I think it's how the game checks activation. Rolling D6 against the leader strategic rating (with some modifications I think). It seems the bug happens only on admiral/general consul, not on all of them. It has been a while since I played HAN... No...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

I played a great Second Punic war HAN PBEM game as Roman a couple years ago, and honestly, never noticed this issue. We didn't knew it existed. I was Rome and I can assure you I didn't had an easy going at all... Playing against Hannibal is hell! ;) The game was very balanced and tense. Maybe you an...

Re: Caesar vs. Pompey: Winning strategy - Spain or the East?

If I recall correctly, the legions you can recruit in the East are no proper legions, but really worthless troops. So you get more money but
don't have nothing worthy to recruit with it.

I think going to Spain is better.

Wars in America 2 is probably my favourite AGEOD game. Lots of scenarios, not too many units, great art and excellent playability and feeling.
Rise of Prussia is great too.

IIRC, on the game installation folder there is a subfolder with different documentation including a very nice pdf map with all the cities, depots and objectives info. Very nice for getting a general picture and do some planning. Regards! PS: I think the map is also here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/v...

If I recall correctly, the Color on the objectives filter doesn't show current ownership. This is shown by the flag on the city. The color red mean the city is an objective of the reds and the white Color that'it is an objective of the whites. Bear in mind each factions can have a different sets of ...

This game like CW2, use a newer interface that works slightly different.
To see number of men you have to put the mouse pointer over the power display of any unit on the unit panel.

Re: Capital city

It all depends of how the scenario is designed. Usually it tries to reflect the historical situation. In some scenarios losing your capital could be just a little inconvenience. In other cases it could be nearly game over. On the objectives screen you see what cities you should try to take or defend...

I don't think minor (non playable) factions have proper capitals. Just the main factions. Usually it's not something too important. What you want to take note of is the objective cities you can find on the objectives page on the ledger( F10 if I recall correctly). Usually the enemy capital is one of...

Re: DLCs

It's just scenarios. No new mechanics.
But some of the scenarios are huge in scope (like second Punic war) or in length like first Punic war.
I'm sure they are on sale frequently like most steam games.
In order of preference I like Hannibal, Parthian Wars and Rise of Rome. But all are nice.

It's the zone of control mechanism. I tried to explain it here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=51686 In your case the enemy fortress in the region you currently are don't let you advance into another enemy controlled region. You will have to take the fortress first or use only evasive un...

It usually means that the unit has absorbed one of the replacements you have on store. You can check them on oneb of the ledger pages. Infantry usually have 4 max elements, cavalry 3 and irregulars 2. But a lot of units start the scenarios missing one or more of that elements, to represent understre...

No, if defeated they retreat inside the city again. You can try to scape with some fast and highly evasive unit (cavalry, irregulars) using green/green posture and evade orders and dropping them out of the city and into another region. Sometimes it works. But regular troops usually get engaged in co...

I would advise putting the guard under Napoleón, on the army stack and use this army stack as a reserve for the nearby corps stacks. It works Ok in game and looks pretty historical IMHO. The corps on offensive will engage the enemy and the army stack, if in the same or and adjacent region, can be co...
