Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

Civil War II is really standing the test of time. I bought Strategic Command and have been giving it a go. The whole one unit per hex thing is just a turn off. No ability to have generals/admins in the same way that CWII had. I also bought Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865) last year and jus...

Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

I bought the Grand Tactician game last night. No multiplayer and not planned for several years (the turns are hour by hour, so they'd need to rebuild the engine to get multiplayer to work, I suppose). One of the beauties of Civil War II was the multiplayer. I'm surprised Slitherine doesn't think the...

Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

I'm assuming there hasn't been any movement on Civil War III at this point? At this point, does anyone know if the game Grand Tactician would take the desire for people to invest in Civil War III. I guess people do buy multiple Civil War games and I haven't played Grand Tactician, but it seems to ha...

Sorry for the delay. I got caught up in Thanksgiving and then work became super busy. I think I'm going to defer for a few weeks and see how it goes. I'll follow up in a bit to see if anyone is still interested.

CW2 Union Player Wanted - 1862 Campaign

Looking for a Union Player that will play the 1862 Campaign (this is where the game starts in 1862). I would make one of my YouTube video series from the PBEM. I'm on the latest patch.

For the force in Richmond that marched there - I turned of Corps so they wouldn't MtSG to Petersburg and get wiped out. Looks like Lee and Longstreet will take over two forces in Richmond.... Agreed - I'll have to redo the line in AL now that the Union is at the door. Likely will abandon the river a...

Yes, he has that. Longstreet had one as well.... but just not enough. It's tough as the CSA, don't have enough forces to defend everywhere. Time to head back to Richmond and see what gives out first. Supplies or men.... Your opponent is pretty smart. Did you notice he's using pure artillery division...

Re: YouTube AAR - 1864 Scenario - charlesonmission (CSA) vs. principes romanes (Union)

I'm not sure what else to do with the garrison militia except PP. Maybe defend retreat is better. At this point, since I can't move the capital, if he takes Richmond that is the end of the game. It's been a tough series and I've had a few unlucky breaks. It appears that a lot of your units, especial...

I thought he would try to flank me in GA, but at least this time, he backed off. I use passive hoping they would escape - though maybe defend/retreat on engage would be better. Your Union opponent is being way too timid. Logan should have moved to threaten Atlanta and Sherman should have moved South...

Re: What does Veteran Activation Actually Do?

Good discussion. I'm playing the 1864 scenario with principes and asked him about this. We've had 3 turns on Veteran and I've not seen a single unit with a general that didn't move when expected to move. I remember in ACW units with generals would be locked down a turn and they wouldn't move. Has an...

I recruited all 6 rangers available in Galveston. Copperheads is an interesting idea, I used them to shore up Mobile and Savannah though. Maybe they will come back as an option again. Having never played that scenario I didn't think about rangers. Can you recruit many? How about RDG copperheads? The...

Can't wait to see your 3rd and some actual combat. If it were me I'd conduct more raids into Union territory. Some of the loyalty might be low enough to take back some towns and cities. I think your plans for the Far West are ill advised, given the distances and the manpower you have on hand. Just ...

Yeah, sorry about that, looks like hitting the F9 key stops Camtasia from recording. What I said before stopping was the Union NM is 90 - which also isn't very high, but substantially higher than the CSA. Your first video has a bit of an abrupt cut-off at the end. Look forward to the rest of them. I...

I always thought the setting were set based on when the game started.... glad I asked about this before starting up 1864.

Re: Do Game Settings Only Impact When you start the game?

Also, are most people doing the dual hosting scenario? Which would mean that even more so setting would need to be the same..... I would suggest synchronizing settings with your PBEM opponent, or visa-versa, as the case may be. It's the safest way to deal with the situation. It is truly unfortunate ...
