Improving AGEOD gameplay with 3 simple steps

Hi there, I know AGEOD since the very beginning (ie Ph Thibaut's schism with paradox linked to EU1 bacj in the 90s) but I shamefully admit that I never liked/played ageod games (despite the fact that i kept buying them :-) ) However, I was terribly wrong and recently, after reading a review, I had a...

CV1 vs CV2

Hi, how would you describe the differences ? What are cv2 improvements over cv1 ? I never played CV1 but by looking at videos, it seems to me that the map is much more playable ... artwork looks much better, smoother colors, clearer map, more sober colors. Generally speaking, at least visually, the ...

Is this forum dead ?

... Seems so ... not 100% but 98% ? I can't understand why the company, ie. AGEOD is not maintaining active discussions here, for instance by simply answering all questions. This is a clear commercial mistake IMO. "Motion creates emotion". Otherwise you're dead. The most successful games i...

Re: Poll. New engine first game.

I think AGEOD games are very well fit for 2-week turns. Even 1 month turn like in TYW is too long IMO. This is so true, especially during the campaigning season. There's a distinct lack of control with the longer turns. And games set in modern times, such as TEAW, should have at most week long turn...

Re: Poll. New engine first game.

I would love the 100-YW of course. I can just see an issue, with 100-110 years of conflict, it would probably imply 3-month turns. But what does it mean to play 3-month turns ??? One possibility would be to split the 100-YW into smaller campaigns with 1 month turn ? I think AGEOD games are very well...

Thank you :-)
Well, my first impression is very-very positive ! It seems to be (maybe even more than usual with Ageod ?) a really detailed game. I'm salivating ! But it might take long before I conquer the (pbem) world :-) :dada: :pleure:

Hi there ! Just bought CV2 and I'm relatively new at AGEOD games (long term buyer, but just started to understand how to play the games :-) ). I'm now listening to this tutorial series (AoE Bros) and I find it very detailed, useful and well done ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sMrj4AagYo&inde...

Re: Poll. New engine first game.

No WW2, pleeeease ! There are already zillions of WW2 games on the market.
Some middle-age stuff would be great. 100 years war ?
Or a truly great Napoleonic game.

Modding the game: objective city

Hi, I would like to change the background color of the objective provinces (when pressing "3"). So far it's a pale grey that I can barely distinguish from mountains or snow (TYW and RUS). So I would like a vivid blue or so instead.
Any idea which GIF i should edit ?
Thanks.

Re: Help needed: objective cities

It's a pity that there are so many design flaws in the game because otherwise it would be great. But for example, choosing the white colour for strategic cities is definitely a bad idea. Because it's near impossible to see them when fully zoomed out, in winter when the soil is covered with snow. Har...

Strategic map

Unless I missed something (?) the objective cities are not displayed on the strategic map (F9) and/or on the mini map which is a pity in terms of planing the attacks, unless you know the Russia map by heart ... Am I missing something or is it as it is ?
Thanks

Re: Help needed: objective cities

This what I suspected but for example, both Moscow and Vladimir are in my list of objectives (as a eastern white) but one is flashing red, the other white ... And in fact, I'm pretty sure that all main cities are objectives for both factions ... So it's a bit strange.

Re: Help needed: objective cities

The very same red flag. But it's not limited to Ekaterinsburg. Nizhni Novgorod, Vladimir (and several others) are in the same case : Flashing white while belonging to the Reds. It's Early game (second or third turn) so I'm sure that if you load the great campaign as the Eastern Whites, you will noti...

Help needed: objective cities

Hi, I can't figure out what makes some objective cities flashing in red and some others flashing in white (with map filter 3) ? I'm playing eastern whites and some of my objectives are flashing in red, others in white, regardless of current ownership. For example, Perm is owned by reds and flashing ...

CTRL showing nb of men ?

Hi, in AJE pressing Ctrl shows the total number of men in a stack. In TYW it should be the same according to the manual but I can't find where the total nb of men is displayed ?? Should I get new glasses ?

Thanks

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

Difficult question ... I voted for "Yes, but only if the game topic is small and can be handled properly by the engine, BOA style." because I'm always hoping that the engine will improve and it's true that PON is a bit a pain to play. But in reality, I love the feel of the game (AJE) and I...

As AGEOD definitely has some French DNA I was wondering about the % of French dudes on this forum ?
Maybe we're all French ?
So who's French, who's not (and if not, where from ?)

I'll start : I'm French ... :niark:

It's F7.
OK so if I understand well, capital cities are not particularly important, just as any other objective city, and everything depends on the value of the objective. Makes sense ...

Re: The Most Complex AGEOD Game ?

And what about Wars of Napoleon ? Strangely enough I've read bad critics on Steam (as compared to the other AGEOD games) ... So I'm wondering if the game is somehow flawed or if the bad critics are from average Steam users who don't understand the discrete beauty of the AGEOD engine (I have to shame...

So which one is the most complex, and why do you think so ? Or are they all +/- the same in terms of complexity ?
