Very interesting article, thanks! I like Rabinowitch. He's clear and careful and doesn't say more than he has evidence for. Rabinowitch's _The Bolsheviks in Power: The First Year of Soviet Rule in Petrograd_ (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 2007) shows how the relatively democratic and decen...

Yes As you certainly know, the team RUS is made of 4 persons working on their free time on the game. These last weeks, we have had a little more to do than usual. So I forgot to add more money event will fire if you have on turn 6 and 18 less than 25 money in treasury ( IMHO smoething to fix as con...

Money: WAD; After first use, More money option will be available on turn 6 and 18 of each year ( late April and early october as first turn is numbered 0). No bug here Not WAD. I can confirm that the Reds get no money printing option in all in 1919. I suspect for the rest of campaign also but I'm b...

I've noticed the same things you have - the Reds don't have real good chances in the Grand Campaign because of their inability to raise money. I'm sort of waiting for the 1.01 patch to come out. Exactly, but the questions are, is it because the resources are too low by design or because the designe...

Reflections on the Bolsheviks, the October Revolution, and early Soviet state buildi

By Alexander Rabinowitch, historian and author on Russian Revolution. 2 December 2010, copied from WSWS This evening, I want to share with you some views on the Bolsheviks, the October Revolution, and early soviet state-building in Petrograd developed during nearly a lifetime studying various aspect...

"Mehring: Do you have all the required money, engagement points, war supplies, moral to buy those mob. & cossack events? As it is now, IIRC, you can decree those events even if some of the requirements are missing. But next turn you'll figure out, the events just didn't happen" I was beginning to f...

"On the whole: one bug, one undetermined assertion, 3 WAD Thanks for the input" In other words, "what are you complaining about?" Just one example. You treat me with respect and it will be returned. But I don't need to ask anyone about the way you (collectively) tell me I haven't found bugs in the g...

Well, believe it or not, I don't play a game making and labeling a save every turn in the expectation that something will go wrong. Never mind, from now on I will. Neither do I know what you need to identify the problems, I'm not a game programer or psychic, and I don't expect the indifference and s...

If the event is not reported as it should be, it's a bug. Say "thank you for doing our jobs for us and for nothing" or something.

And here's a concrete example with files attached. 1st Army in Moscow is in attack posture and set for all out attack and sortie from Moscow to break Moscow siege. Leader is active and unlocked. Next turn, no attack has been made and 1st Army is set to defend. The sortie command does not work. Secon...

Special Orders

At the best of times, whether or not many special orders are made is graphically unclear and you have to reverse an order to check the status. It also seems that the game cancels orders at the end of or even during a turn. Often units with an order to enter a structure do not. This is disasterous in...

What's with the economy?

Playing the campaign as Bolshevik, there is nothing to tell a player how much money, recruits etc they should be getting each turn. This is what I find playing a handful of campaigns into 1919, and I cannot explain any of it. Requisitioning does not necessarily deliver any money as the rules state. ...

Artillery Building

Have I missed something, or are there, in the campaign, identical building options for 75mm and 105mm Red artillery batteries (4 options in stead of 2)? I look and look and I still can't tell one from the other. Makes me wonder whether there shouldn't be four different types of batteries.

Yes, particularly around Moscow, the symbols generally appear on the wrong map. hard to be sure where you're requisitioning.

Yes, there's no doubt, leaders just up and leave. One of them returned in my game, some months later, to where he should have been, but losing 3 generals in a few months is no fun.
