I know what AV is. My program has no option to exempt folders. I was asking if anyone had NOD32 and knew about this. I know what UAC is. I just don't see any way to change the settings in control panel. I run as administrator. The game is installed in a folder all its own - not program files\blah\bl...

Now I cannot resume a game or load a save. I get the message that the file is in use by another process. I have had it with this game. This is ridiculous. I bought four AGEOD games and now I want my money back!

See if that works.
You know, these are just experiments for now.

Thanks. Will do. It's odd though, isn't it? I mean, I have 16 GB and however much video memory a GTX 680 has

I do not have a good idea, I'm afraid. Memory can be an issue. Have you allotted 75% to the game? (Do this from the Options Panel) Try that. Update to most recent patch. And let us know. I was using 50% memory, upped it to 75% and just got a memory exception error - insufficient memory. Haven't upg...

I was playing the 1755 campaign with version 1.06c (the one on the backup DVD) I got to Sept. 1763, and then the game hung at end of turn. I got an error message to the effect that the save operation was in use by another process. Would that be related to memory usage? p.s. it's too bad too. As Brit...

Thanks, Durk Managed to take Duquesne finally - I had five generals in the stack. Once that happened, a unit labeled "merchandise" appeared in the region. I ordered it into the fort, but I don't know what it's for (don't remember reading anything about it.) Also, I took Louisburg the same turn, and ...

HJow can I get my generals to move?

Playing as the British in the 1755 campaign. I have been following Loki100 and Narwhal's AAR on this campaign, and trying to take Fort Duquesne. The French AI sacks Fort Cumberland starting the first turn. I was able to get enough supplies and artillery there to rebuild it as a base to strike out fo...

Thanks, Pocus. So far on lower texture settings (1 and 2) it has not crashed. But I haven't had much time to play lately. Still, so far, so good, except that oceans are just solid blue, even bumping the textures up to setting 2, so it looks a bit cheezy.

pps: I am not running any non-standard setup. And I can run more graphics-intensive games with full AA, etc. Still, I will try your suggestion, since the last crash I do remember came in April - so the season textures would be changing. It does make sense in a way, although why this would happen on ...

I will check this, but I have a GTX 680, and DX 11 (see the dxdiag attached to my previous post.) And only the very first crash had to do with texture mapping - that was before I updated the driver. All the multitude of other crashes have happened at the end stage of turn resolution. Last night I wa...

I attached the log files. The Saved game is larger than the forum rules allow. It crashes at the end of turn resolution. I don;t know what phase that is, but it's when you expect to get control back from the program. It crashes about two years in to the 1755 campaign, and the last couple of times, I...

Usually it crashes at the end of turn resolution - this last time it just hung - I had the little spinny windows wheel. I could actually click stuff and managed to get to the desktop but when I started the game back up it immediately crashed.

Running as Administrator made it so that saved game now DO show up in the Saves folder. I'll try that for awhile and see if it still crashes. If so, I'll re-install to a location other than the Program Files (x86) folder - where it is now. We will see. Thanks for all the help!

Thank you! That clears things up a lot. A related question: what determines what I can spend EP on? For instance, sometimes there is the option to buy supplies, but after I've done it a couple times the option disappears. Same with some of the other options (siege guns and dragoons, for instance.)

Here is what the manual says about replacements reaching depleted units: The number of replacement strength points a unit may absorb (as a percentage of its full strength) is a function of the type of terrain it occupies as follows: 10%: Land unit in a region with an unbesieged town, 20%: Land unit ...
