AAR Havi vs. Seraphim part 4

Here is the last part of my CSA’s game against Havi’s USA: what happened in the west. In my game as USA, the west saw a lot of actions and the east a little. In this game as CSA it’s the contrary: the eastern front saw a lot of actions (as described in my previous post) and the west less. But there ...

AAR Havi vs. Seraphim part 3

Here it is: the first part of my CSA’s game against Havi’s USA. This game was not as one sided as my other game. Actually, it was still indecisive when we stop. In the east, Magruder’s control of Harper’s Ferry was challenged by Union’s incursions (sometimes divisions sized) trying to isolate Harper...

AAR Havi vs. Seraphim part 2

In the Far West the California Column took Tucson and El Paso without real opposition and then launched an invasion of Texas by the west following the Rio Grande. At the last turn they besieged Laredo TX trying to reach the Texan coast (and the support of Union’s fleet). The e...

AAR Havi vs. Seraphim part 1

I should have said “in the next weeks”: “In the next weeks, I will post a small AAR of this last round”… But here it is: first the AAR of my Union’s game versus Havi’s CSA. In short: the war went well for the Union. The most important detail was that I managed to take New Orleans early in the game (...

Thanks

Thanks Ace. Thanks to Pgr and Jim-NC for organizing this tournament. I also want to thanks my opponents Havi, Skibear, Citizen X and all the participants of the tournament. Well, I won again! So I keep my champion title… :winner: If someone wants to organise another tournament in the future, I will ...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim final part

In AACW tournaments games, the last turn generally saw some last efforts and huge battles. I hereby confirm that fact... According to my calculation, during the last turn of our game with Skibear :  CSA gained 5 NM, USA lose 9 MN  CSA gained 114 PV, USA gained 269 PV  CSA suf...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 8 (end)

I also sent Stuart in Florida with his cavalry division. They managed to retake parts of the state, including Tallahassee. Yes, this city saw a lot of action during this civil war... In the East, I concentrated all the troops at two locations. The Confederation last stand will...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 8

It was my fault ! Confederation was collapsing and Skibear's armies were now much stronger than mine. I evacuated North Virginia : I couldn't have hold it with the troops I had. Remaining troops in Virginia were allocated in two army : Longstreet' army for the defense of Richm...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 7 (end)

Jackson's saved his army but Grant had too much forces. Worse Meade landed 3 new divisions at Tallahassee, retook the city and linked with Grant near Atlanta. With approximately 10 divisions, Jackson may have hold the city but Grant had 13 divisions, twi...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 7

Sorry for the waiting. I planned to update this AAR once per week but I was busy. Now I will try to finish it before it become too intense in my two games in round 4. Last time we saw how CSA's counterattack in Tennessee failed. But I also counterattacked in Florida and Texas with better result. Aft...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 6

With Grant marching south against Mobile and linking with McDowell landing, USA have muster 6+ divisions against the city. It was too much, so I evacuated Mobile, reinforcing New Orleans... But without Grant and his troops, Tennessee was vulnerable. And without a direct menace against Richmond I was...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 5

This round is over, but I will complete this AAR. I will post the most interessant events of our game with Skibear regardless of their turn, as the rule of writing only 6 turns by 6 turns is no longer valid. Here is the next part. After the fall of Nashville, I managed to save my army in Kentucky an...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 4 (end)

In an daring move, Kearny took the (too) lightly defended Fayetteville AR. I took back the city but not before the depot was destroyed. With the simultaneous action of Union's partisans who blown up Springfield's depot, all my supply logistic in the zone was in jeopardy. Skibe...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 4

Here is the next episode of our match. As Skibear and I explained in our last posts, so far the situation remained in a deadlock : both Confederation's and Union's offensives were repulsed. Two events will break the impasse : Union's offensive against Winchester and the end of Kentucky's neutrality....

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 3

In the last episode, we left Grant (and his army) just next of Fort Donelson, with most CSA's troops in the theatre badly positioned near Memphis. As you can imagine, that led to a rapid fall of Fort Donelson. However, Grant's offensive in Tennessee and Union's reinforcement/counterattack in Kansas ...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 2

I write this post to tell you that I have nothing to report. Just kidding, I do have some little things to report but our game with Skibear had a really slow beginning. So no crushing victory nor destruction of the main CSA's army here. Not that I intend to criticize what appear to be my ticket for ...

AAR Skibear vs Seraphim part 1

OK, For what I know, so far our game with Skibear was not as interesting as the match Ace vs Jim-NC. Indeed we had a slow beginning with nothing to report the first 6 turns and only a few actions later. I will still give you an AAR, here it is. In Virginia, no big battle but several cavalry raids an...

Seraphim, I recognize the loss of Grant makes your life more difficult, but I feel that disqualifying the last 6 turns and having you replay is better than my other option, which would be to advance the left side of the bracket from the last valid turn. (As in to compare the turn 18 scores....which...

I must add that if we replay the game like that, I will have a serious disadvantage. Grant will be dead and I will have nothing : no victory to celebrate, no defeat to mourn, no CSA's (nor Union's) casualties, no NM or PV change, no disruption of CSA's movements... Nothing except that I must play wi...

pgr, if you want us to replay turn 19-24, we will. But to said Grant was legally killed ? He was not killed in battle : the battle of Kaskaskia before and the bombardment of Western Command (near Saint Louis) after are different things. Grant and his troop are not involved. And the "battle" of Big M...

Lindi said there was ship fire in the area. Did the CSA ships fired at your troops? No. But there was a battle between Foote’s and Hollin’s fleets at Kaskaskia Confluent, just north of Big Muddy Confluent where I lost Grant. I must say that this section of the Mississippi was a big mess...

Yes.
And the game seems to have began a battle between the two. Began only because there was no fighting, and no retreat. I just lost Grant.

No: river movement with his army. CSA’s general Polk was in the same area. The game seems to have initiated a battle but there was no fighting at all: no battle, no retreat, no victory, no defeat, no NM or PV earned or lost, no casualties except Grant. So I asked for another resolution because...

I’m sorry Liberty Bell but I beat your score. That was not easy however…

In my opinion, I have won because of the high level of casualties of the CSA. Notably the fall of Savannah: nearly 2 CSA’s divisions were wiped out.
