Thanks Tripax, it's nice to know that the method is still viable in theory. After running the log, I am pretty sure that the issue lies with AGEODs files not my own: I enabled error logging and to my surprise a dozen error message popped up all related to pre-existing files (mostly sea units having ...

Apparently a few things have changed since I last modded an AGE game. I tried to add a unit the way it used to work: ⋅ created the unit and the mdl files (I used notepad/text editor) ⋅ amended the alias files for both ⋅ deleted the unit/mdl caches (by the way why has th...

As to Athena, it's best not to put here on a too aggressive setting. Even the detection bonus shouldn't be set to high as it may trigger more weird attacks. I left aggression on default settings. Making Athena more aggressive hasn't helped her in the past, either. It's interesting that you observe ...

First impression - after playing a Grand CSA campaign

After having taken a two year hiatus - forced by RL. I finally bought CW2 and started a Grand Campaign (April 1861) as CSA. In my arrogance, I took for granted that I could still beat Athena and gave her with every boost the option menu offers. My main question was to find out if the game constitute...

Quantrill is basically a flavour unit - like Mosby and a few others that never rose to command a full division. But I agree, Quantrill commanding a huge military unit when he never was more than a partisan/common criminal (depending on the point of view) feels wrong. However there is a simpler solut...

Well Mickey as expected I was wrong in some regards. - In CW2, landing is a more effective weapon than in AACW because you can move and land in the same turn (In AACW you should first move and in the next turn land). You could do both in the same turn but granted often you weren't able to do so beca...

Hmmh interesting AAR. I may be talking out of my ass (since RL forced a very long hiatus from AGEOD games + the games after RuS couldn't pick my interest) - however I used to be a rather competent PBEM player (of all my opponents only one ever managed to defeat me). Thus I dare a few observations an...

1. White stacks: it doesn't really matter that you are able to combine White stack, drop them into structures. They are still under AI control; in other words, the AI will give orders for these troops and completely ignore what you try to do with these stacks. That said it's admittedly a bit weird. ...

You being able to select White units is most likely the consequence of your relations with them being cordial. Am I correct in assuming that you can look at their setup but not move them? - It's a bit weird but I think it's working as designed. The same happens if you play the Reds and choose to bow...

As a possibilty i think that bigger map. Better scale for a modern war i think. And with turns of one week duration imo more doesnt fit to a modern war. So, if we are thinking in the wwii then in the total campaign game we had around 300 turns ¡¡¡ 300 seems still managable. Yes it is long b...

Pretty certain this is not WAD. I ran across the same issue half a year ago (and I think I reported it back then). Hobbes, Durk and I only played this campaign twice, therefore the sample size is small. My impression is this: 1st campaign season: Indian victory by sudden death is perfectly achievable. It all depends on the Indian player concentrating his forces well. If he does, the British player can't do much ...

Some minor stuff concerning graphic sets: mdl 479 doesn't use the existing graphic set Unit_PRU_Lentulus.png mdl 512: I get the impression that this is actually supposed to be Wilhelm von Schaumburg-Lippe (the artillerist ability is a strong indication). The bug was that a heavy tank regiment inside a division would speed up the entire thing in a crazy way. It was poison to game balance since it enabled the Whites to hit deep behind enemy lines almost at will. In an recent AAR , I had an entire corps crossing right through the Prypiat Marshes in 10 ...

A lot of well deserved praise! :) I can't wait for this! One question if I may, will you adopt the WiA and PoN system when it comes to divisions, corps and armies? What Pat Cleburne tried to tell you in the other thread: this isn't an exact science. Whether a battle will happen/if all or only some stacks engage is also determined by an element of chance, strategic ratings of your generals, ... In your examples: 2 corps: possibly both, but they may not attack b...
