Re: How to get a new download for my copy?

In my experience, sending an e-mail to AGEOD with the serial number and confirmation email has led to them being able to provide a new download link. It may depend on the individual game, but it should definitely be worth a try.

Re: Damned Bolsheviks

Hi allan_boa, I'm glad you're enjoying the game - you're surely correct that it can be tough at the beginning, when you're still finding your way and what works for you and what doesn't. Regarding locked units, they are typically locked in two separate circumstances: - Locked by scripting: usually o...

Re: Eastern White first moves ?

Hi allan_boa, Ageod and Paradox had a cooperation for some time which resulted in a bit of crossover as far as forums were concerned. Yes - I noted that that AAR was for the Short Campaign - I had a look and there are some other RUS AARs on the paradox forum as well, but none in as great detail. -de...

Re: Eastern White first moves ?

Hi alla_boa, I can't help too much myself, but have you seen the AARs on the paradox forums as well? https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/who-put-the-stranded-admiral-in-charge-siberian-white-short-campaign-pbem.571687/ especially might be of use to you. -deguerra

Re: Random generals

I think you're right, Captain_Orso, that there isn't really a feasible way of getting this into the game currently, but I do have to agree that a dimension of not knowing who your best leaders are straight off the bat would be quite interesting. My two cents: - I think the 'randomizing' was an attem...

Re: Input games

Hi Julie,

I'm afraid I'm no help with the text files either, but I certainly think you're onto something - this would be a very interesting feature.

Hope someone else can give you a hand with editing those text files!

All the best

Re: External PON AAR: United Kingdom

Thanks for this, it's a great read. I always want to get into PON properly, but the size and length of the game, and the complexity of the economic model always mean I get sidetracked after only a few turns. So it's all the more fascinating to read others' frolics into what is indubitably a very ric...

Yup, can confirm. I think the 'order' of lines that have the same value in a certain filter changes when you scroll. So for example if you filter by Money produced, a region that produces 3 will always appear above regions that produce 2 (obviously), but regions that produce 2 sometimes switch their...

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will respond to you, but in the meantime my 2 cents: 1) Exactly right. Each land unit has a weight, and each transport has a transport capacity (not sure what the exact name is). I can't say for sure with CW2, but at least in AACW brigs also had a small carry capa...

Oh no argument there, I've always been smitten with the AACW map and the CW2 one is growing on me.

This was more to enable out-of-game planning and post-game plotting of invasions and battles.

And more than a little bit of an obsession with maps on my part, no doubt :)

High Res Map for AACW use

Wasn't sure if there's a better subform to post this in. So I was always looking for a map to use while playing AACW that was both high resolution, but reasonably low density (in terms of stuff actually shown on the map) and I came across this: http://tile.loc.gov/image-services/jp2.py?data=/service...

I'm slow :) I love agonizing over various things for an hour and turning the computer off, sleeping on it and then changing my mind about half of them :) Fretting, basically. I also love organizing my units. So I usually take about a week for a turn all told (I have fairly strenuous work commitments...

they are in Wars in America as very weak fixed garrison units for isolated settlements ... myself and Narwhal spent a lot of time wiping each others set out in a game of the French and Indian Wars :) so they might be designed to give some options for the Far West? How can such a nice game be neglected? It still has more atmosphere than CW2, but I'm just an occasional player. THanks for that very detailed response, grimjaw, I'll have to play around with it a bit myself. Just in terms of the technical discussion - is there a way of editing the original scenario files such that the factions GBR and FRA are controllable by the CSA player, as is done in other AGEOD games (eg the original, various RUS factions etc)?

Not to bang on about this too much again, as this issue has been my little crusade ever since it was changed in RUS, but the AACW (Civil War 1) game had a wonderful ledge as far as looking for generals was concerned. Most of my great-grandfathers and a number of siblings of great-grandparents fought on the German side in some capacity. I believe one great-grandfather was a locomotive driver and was killed when his train was bombed. I should try to dig up some pictures, I know I have them around somewhere.

I think there's a thread around somewhere asking for the more detailed list from AACW1 back. For the moment, what Durk suggested is about all there is (AFAIK), and it isn't terribly useful (as Captain_Orso correctly points out).
