Hi, I may be missing some feature concerning embarkation. If a flotilla is in the sea region next to port (not in port), if I left-click and drag a land unit onto that flotilla, what really happens? Does the flotilla then go in to port to let the units board? Would it be faster or the same if I jus...

This was yours? I enjoyed it :) Oui, et écrivant c'était mon plaisir. J'espère que vous ne le trouvez pas trop critique. How's that?! I used http://www.freetranslation.com so I hope that I didn't just insult your cat and call your grandmother something rude! Just in case I did, this is what I tried...

You are quite welcome sir! :gardavou: Actually, I struggled with this myself at first; not an Ageod issue but, rather, my inexperience using large pdf files. I used to just scroll through them so I was quite excited to figure this bookmark thing out! It really made the electronic manuals much easier...

Help navigating the pdf manual

I don't know if this happens to anybody else but when I am viewing the manual using my pdf viewer and I click on one of the topics on the table of contents on the side, it only takes me to that part of the table of contents of the manual! It's more than a little annoying to have to click twice on t...

Review on Game Spot

Here is the review that I wrote for BoA before I was involved in any way with Ageod as a beta tester. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/birthofamerica/player_review.html?id=379295 And 6.9 is NOT a good score. I don't usually write reviews but I thought, at the time, and even more now, that these s...

Thoughts on this American/English/French thing

I've noticed that usually when there is a bunch of hubbub in the media about how people from 2 different countries are supposedly "not getting along" it's usually actually the GOVERNMENTS that represent those people who aren't getting along, not the actual people that they represent. Case in point i...

BoA for Christmas

I'm buying several copies of BoA for guys in my war game posse for Christmas. This is such a great engine and, as has been said by many people, the artwork and detail are really second to none. The game is so much better than the reviews that I'm willing to spend a chunk of my own cash just to get t...

You won't be disappointed

Just had to write that after months of reading reviews, posts on this forum along with other forums and after playing the demo many times, I finally bought the CD version of the game. Just couldn't decide if I liked the demo enough to buy the game, but finally made up my mind thanks to the great de...

How to start and end movement route in the same region

Idea from unbbmas This works as long as the region your stack starts in is not the most difficult terrain to move through of the surrounding regions. For example, say you want Pontiac and his stack to search and destroy in the vicinity of Oswego but to end the turn back in Oswego. Set march orders l...

Brilliant unbbmas! How to start and end in the same region

'You can not make a route that starts and ends in the same place or the whole route and previous waypoints are deleted like the arriving point being the same to the starting one told the machine there is no movement. Even if I hold "shift" when doing it. Land and sea' Yes this is a problem .I put t...

I'm a fan of Scrat too!

My personal favorite on Scrat (the one that I use as my background) is:

I like Scrat, I can identify with him. If there is a 50/50 chance, 80% of the time I'm wrong! :cuit:

Re-embarkation from shore

What do you all think about the limitation in BoA to only be able to re-embark troops to ships at a port? I know that this was occasionally done in real life but that it was not without it's dangers. When landing one might have the element of surprise on one's side to help get ashore with a bridgehe...

Feedback on location sprites

These location sprites are FANTASTIC!!! The bad thing about them is that they are so damn small that all that excellent graphics work is too hard to see for most players. I have excellent vision and have a 19" monitor set to 1024/768 and 24-bit color and the differences in the structures are ...

What makes an operational/strategic historical game sticky?

A significant limitation, I think, with operational/strategic games is that the only way to expand them via modding is to apply the engine to new time frames. How may "what if" scenarios can one come up with? The Total War series has gotten around this by not worrying too much about keeping the oper...

It also would be nice if generals could be good at one level but less so on another. When you promote one good brigade general to division command you would risk a nasty surprice as he might be on a level above his capabilties. Or maybe that that would be more frustrating than fun? Anyhow, locking ...

Question about seniority

#1 Relegating generals One of the cool features of AACW is that you can remove any general from command, or name any general you want to any position... with a cost! You don't really think that removing McClellan from the Army of Potomac could be done without some grinding of teeth! Players will ha...

What are the 4 distinct levels of intelligence quality mentioned in the living rules?

Based on the excess of detection points which you possess, the accuracy of the intelligence information you will receive will increase. The game recognizes four distinct levels of intelligence quality. What are the four distinct levels of intelligence quality? I've encountered what seem like many d...

I forgot to mention that. I also cleaned up and de-fragmented both the drive that the game is on and the c: drive last week. Crash to reboot (not CTDT) problems

I'm running version 1.10 (had same problem with 1.09f). I have 1Gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X and 128Mb of RAM. Playing the 1755 campaign with no other programs running in and no auto notification things running either. Computer is a Sony Vaio 2.4G P4. So far the problem seems ...
