If you want to play with a wall of troops from Little Rock to Ft Monroe, never. If you want to concentrate your troops into invincible hammer and anvil MTSG beasts, always. Just depends on how you want to play. Well, I know that the first option is impossible, that Far West front has lesser importa...

When I asked for "how many time" I meant "how many time you need to fully build sucha anumber of divisions".
In all my games I usually deplete my manpool really quickly, trying to garrison adequately every single front.

Optimally, I give each Corps stack a pontoon, engineer, HQ and a balloon element. Then it's an artillery Division and four infantry Divisions. I understand the benefit of having those support units in the Corps stack, but how many time you need to achieve such a configuration? The support units are...

Corps structure and composition

Hi all. While we have plenty of informations about how to assembly Divisions, I cannot recall a discussion about Corps.
Can anyone post his thoughts?

The Mortar Boats only provide a +1 Siege bonus to a Siege you are laying in an adjacent land region. Since such abilities are not cumulative you will never need more than 1 in a siege and if you actually have a Siege Artillery already, it will add nothing addition to the siege. And what if the forc...

Regarding the other thing you are saying "beware of MTSG, it can result in you losing your starting positions, so it isn't always a positive" your are 100% correct, and indeed this is a very good feature : a "bad"MTSG can suddenly make a well dug in 3 province wide front disappear, as it should. In...

If you're not interested in defending that position, set the stack in a complete passive mode. When engaged in combat, Floyd's force will retreat more easily towards a friendly region, unharmed.

More than 4 cav in stack eliminate big stack penalty to detection.

There is a bonus to your hide value if a stack has more than 4 cav, regardless if in a div or independent. It seems to me that it doesn't work. I just started a Shiloh scenario with USA. I added a total of 7 independent cavalry regiments to Grant's army stack, but the hide value didn't change at al...

No list of which I am aware, but check the element stats and abilities. Flatboats make for cheap transports and you may use mortar boats to improve your siege roll. But if I remember correctly from AACW1 (or was it PON?), if you put in your sieging force two siege artillery units, their effects on ...

Seems like some of your saved games are crashing the game. Please have a look at them (you can see the path in the options window) and if some of 0 byte file or tmp file, they are corrupted. In the game you will either have to run the forts to land in New Orleans or attack over land and then go back and capture the forts. I also doubt that New Orleans will be ungarrisoned. Couldn't you land your forces directly on the forts itself, starting immediately a siege? I remeber I did so in AC...

Yes, you're right. In fact they were two independent batteries, included in the same stack of the (two regiments) infantry brigade. But the question remains.

BTW to build a depot you need 4 supply elements. How many units you need to put those 4 together doesn't matter. They all must be =>50% in strength (hits, not cohesion) and have some supply. Since the supply phase is before the build phase, even if your supply elements are empty at the end of the l...
