Re: I am doing a new AAR

Well,

Maybe people will think "Those battles are awesome. Too bad there is no metagame/strategic layer !" and then I will be like "Have you heard of Field of Glory: Empires ?" :)

I am doing a new AAR

Hello guys, Outstanding project you have. As luck would have it, I was in an "Punic War" mood, and after an AAR in "Hannibal : Carthage and the Second Punic War", I moved to ... another games - which did not work so well so far with the AAR, and so I decided to move to Field of G...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Dev Diary #3 - Buildings

Wooot ! I am back into AARing and what do I see ? Field of Glory.

All the more interesting since I wanted to AAR in a row all the games in which you can simulate Carthage vs Rome :)

Looks super promising. Two thumbs up.

Maybe too complicated, but create "captured" ship tokens from won battle - slow and not really able to fight, and if they are brought to a few large ports + RGB they have 30% chance of being converted into a worthwhile ship, 50% chance of being lost with maybe a minor win in ressource and 20% chance...

A question came to my mind that is not covered in this wonderfull post! How do "opposing"-ROE-coefficients work? If my element attacks an opposing element, does it use both, its "own" and the opposing elements' "opposing" coefficient to determine its hitchances? And if so, how are these two coeffic...

I would like the boundaries between the province to be more visible. In some cases [Northern France / Netherlands], it is barely legible ; in many case it is hard to read. It was one of my main showstoppers in NCP.
Same with the roads, too thin in my opinion.

Active borders will be in. Also, the map is still unfinished, and a lot of info like big areas or theaters names, national borders and the like are still missing. As Lindi noted too, the military control filter is also quite helpful Active borders like "seeing the border by default" ? Lack of readi...

Well also if the 100 days are not a scenario then the French would either have been taken out by the player or as the player not in the same position. An event if Napoleon loses enough that France surrenders and goes back to the Bourbons, then having a 100 days event would be quite exciting though....

Ahem... what if Napoleon wins his Waterloo in game? I would think/hope there is room to extend the game another 2-3 years to cover an end game that sees the entire world arise in a huge coalition that puts the Battle of Nations OOB to shame to finally defeat Napoleon should he win his first big bat...

We prefer not to interrupt the turns flow though... Although the idea has merits. When the Guard is committed, lower the threshold after which other unit/division retreats from the battle [and maybe, if possible code-wise put some which retreated back into the battle]. In addition, give the Guard g...

No impact. The leader of the stack will be, for "battle calculation purposes", detached from his unit.

I like the current system way enough. Drag & drop is SO much faster than what GG War to the East is doing. Small trick : rename your trash army of light infantry "Sulla's Shock Army" and then see how they go through the map unopposed.

If I am not mistaken, there are 2 bonus given by the siege train :

- The "specific" +1 siege roll bonus given by the siege "trait". Does not stack
- The "common" bonus given by all artillery units to siege, +1 to the siege roll every 10 points of power. This stacks.

Two reasons : IIRC, many Parthian elements [horse archers] are 6 SP strong, so easier to kill than a 10 elements strong. The cavalry elements are also f**** by the "charge / counter-charge" mechanics. A unit that charges and is met with a counter-charge receive 2x damage. Full-strength legion almost...

As far as I understand.

Replacing 1 lost element => 1 chit.
Replacing 1 hit in a unit with 10 SP => 1/10 chance to consume one chit.
Replacing 1 hit in a unit with 6 SP => 1/6 chance to consume one chit.

Hello, indeed Arsan is right : - Protection includes a big "getting out of the way" part, that's why Cavalry in all AGEOD games have a better protection [fast = hard to hit] - That's -10% chance to be hit. Basically, you take the chance to hit and multiply it by 0,9 for each protection point. So Pro...

What I like about AGEOD games is the Freebox of actions. They give you an army, a starting situation, now good luck and win the war : - No "missions' - No "production centers", which would be obvious objectives - No "no one can go here" tiles, which would focus the actions artifically into a few axi...

As said by bob. if the Pontics hold Athenae with everything they have in Greece at the beginning, the Sullans cannot take the city [or if they do, it is a gamble and they will lose quite a few cohorts]. So the Sullans are now by far the weakest side in the scenario imo.

Did you check whether it is due to your general choosing not to engage a five dots army with his 2 dots ?
