Yes, I look forward to the new patch, and PBEM may be worth a try, although multiplayer stability didn't seem to be a problem for me. Neither do I get game stalls anymore. I fully understand how strange behaviours may occasionally happen in a game this complex which relies heavily on data, condition...

Random, sorry to hear you've finally given up after many valiant efforts to find fixes. I've recently given the game a second chance, including a couple of on-line two player games which worked reasonably well, but the annoying behaviour persists; multiple occupancy without battle resolution, units ...

But, all unused events cards, however good or bad, are gathered back in after a certain length of time and become available again for a random draw.

I think the events grab is during the winter interphase, except maybe 1914?

This a well documented issue. Sometimes it can be resolved with very careful mousework by one of the several routes available, and sometimes it isn't.

See my earlier post 'Problems with Army detachments' or some such title from autumn'10.

Good point about the 'named helmets' symbol denoting a player's participation, Maestro. If I get to play MP again, I'll double check that situation, as I believe in my 3-4 attempts at two games with poweraxe yesterday that may have been an issue. I think it was when I was host and we crashed quickly...

That just about sums up the situation, poweraxe. There was the issue of us both occupying Mulhouse without having incurred combat as well. Both my French stacks entered Mulhouse after forcing the defenders to retreat, but poweraxe counterattacked during his phase with a stack of his own but no battl...

Having experienced my first two-player scenario last night (thanks, poweraxe) I must say that I was impressed how smooth it all went, once we finally got connected, although the load time was quite long. Admittedly, it was 'only' the Tannenberg scenario but except for hanging for a few seconds (mayb...

That used to happen to me commonly BEFORE I patched to version 1.08L. It still happened afterwards but much less often, maybe once every three or four turns. Still enough to make it unplayable though. I solved the issue by switching off all sounds (someone suggested a missing/corrupt sound file migh...

Random, try plotting sea zone to adjacent sea zone. That should work if you don't plot too many zones at once.

That is, only when the Camels have frightened the natives of Cork and Dublin into submission! :)

Largely agree, Random

I agree with most of your observations, Random. I no longer get significant lock-ups though. I DID get one a few days back which was a real surprise as I'd now estimate it happens about once in 20-30 turns. For me, the naval/colonial aspects need fixing most of all. I'd also add the following:- 1. T...

Regrettably this does seem to happen, and both ways. Sometimes the enemy will play events which apparently are to their detriment and your benefit and at others an ally plays a card which does you no good at all. It really does beg the question; does the AI know it can discard an unfavourable events...

You mean WWI Gold?

I'd love to give a PBEM a go but cannot see how it is feasible with the way the game is set-up. It seems that to start up a multiplayer game you must be all 'live' and internet connected, otherwise the AI takes the place of absent (or drop-out) players and there's no over-ride to 're-humanise' an AI...

I believe the consensus was to set the sliders just to the right of middle for both, i.e. harder/more aggressive side of average.

There is a thread somewhere here, about August 2010 I think, which discussed this subject.

I got fairly displeased with this issue also. The German colonial armies seemed over-represented and definitely overly effective. However, I believe this issue may be compounded by excess 'dummy' Corps, a special unit which only the AI can deploy. On one occasion I was aggrieved and relieved in equa...

Yes the right click method CAN be helpful, but it was of no use in my situation above, as the armies to which my units were arbitrarily assigned were locked and unmanageable.

In other words, once the incorrect asignment had been made, the 'lost Corps' were locked too. :bonk:

The Channel crossing has never been an issue for me. Then again I've always transported empty HQs. Other sea moves, especially from the US, and in one instance from India to South Africa, are more troublesome, but I find that one can plot sea region by sea region, just as on land, if the auto-route-...

Stephen T Same happened to me, and this was one of the recommendations I was going to make when I finished my full compaign; either give the Italians 'off to war' start positions for joining as Entente or Central Powers, or as you suggest one turn grace during which they can move up. The latter may ...

AI replacement of dropped players is a very strong recommendation to try a 4-player game. I'm very pleased to hear that feature is there! In my experience with other games too many players get bored far too easily or drop out as soon as their tactics go a little bit wrong, thus wrecking the game. So...

Ok, I agree with that. I suppose though my original question remains, why was the Belgian Army isolated last turn? Then there was no doubt at all about the integrity of the Antwerp-Liege Railway and Louvain was still Belgian, although the Germans had Mechelin. It seems, as you rightly describe, that...

I agree entirely about the German 'commerce-raiders'. It seems very difficult to actually hunt them down and even then to pin them down and kill them. Generally speaking in comparison to the British Navy the Kriegsmarine seems over-represented. If certain features of naval warfare are going to be ab...

OK, now I really am confused?

So, back in Belgium, I successfully attack Mechelin with British 2nd Army and regain a land route to Antwerp and beyond there to Liege thus resupplying the Belgian HQ. See attached pic. Well having driven out the German units I thought that would be the case but it seems another German unit has mean...

Returning to the topic of debate:- I've been giving the naval side of things a bit more attention in my most recent game and as a result several naval battles have ensued. Mr Twitter I'm also finding (in 'simple turn mode', i.e. type 1. above) that sometimes my plotted moves do NOT get done.
