+1 I also get the "This download is no longer available" message when I click on the OP link.

If anybody can post an alternative link, that would be hugely appreciated.

They are very much their own games. :) WW1 Gold is a direct adaptation of a board game rules set, which comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. TEAW has been designed as a computer simulation of the war from the ground up, so even if they do share off-Europe regional boxes as a desi...

Yes, I know Philippe designed the board-game and teamed with Calvinus to produce the computer version. I'm by no means implying Ageod has 'stolen' something from WW1 Gold that wasn't already its intellectual property. However, that doesn't change the fact that TEAW appears to borrow a lot from Ageod...

Frankly, I don't see the comparison with the maps. They aren't even close.. TEAW's map is entirely based on the template of WW1 Gold's. Look at the off-map areas -- Africa, western hemisphere, asia, the fact that UK 'cuts off' at Scotland, offmap areas for Spain, Denmark, etc. etc. This *is* the WW...

I have to say that it is very striking how much TEAW appears to have appropriated from World War One Gold graphically / visually. The maps are more or less identical. Even the graphics for the warplan selections are the same. ...not sure how I feel about this -- particularly in light of the attempt ...

If they think their fan base is to be found on FB, then they seriously misunderstand their demographics. QFT Ageod is perfectly welcome to make use of FB as a promotional vehicle for TEAW as far as I'm concerned. However, if they're using FB as the *primary* promotional vehicle outside the AGEOD we...

Hope you're relatively crash-free now, Vaalen. I've actually gone back to Gold after playing Centennial Edition for a few days. Sorry to hear that --- :( For what it's worth -- I play with all 'strict turn army by army' options enabled, plus I enable "advanced breakthroughs". Have you tried the more radical surgery -- completely uninstalling WW1 Gold, doing a 'safe' registry sweep with Eusing Registry Cleaner or CCleaner, re...

Great to hear, Vaalen. Hope it will continue to be stable for you. WWI Gold is without question one of my favorite grand strategy games, and it always gladdens me to hear others are still playing it. I have hopes that "Centennial Edition" may even improve things and widen (somewhat) the audience for...

Vaalen, Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I'm able to play Gold with good stability on Windows 7 (64 bit), so rest assured it can be done. But that doesn't solve your immediate problem. Have you modded the game in any way? If so, try uninstalling all mods. My experience is that the game can get...

I bought CE tonight, possibly against my better judgment. I want to support the devs who put this together over at DigitalFroggies, and based on the game's good points, they are worth supporting. Was this on Steam? The Steam download is just a normal Windows installer. The process can be confusing because it's so unlike other Steam games. I really hope the guys over at DigitalFroggies can rectify this. WW1Gold/CE is a hard enough sell without all these needless technical difficulties. CE sh...

I'm very glad to hear from Pocus that an AGEOD WW2 game is not out of the question (which is not to say that it has been 'confirmed,' of course, but simply that it remains within the realm of possibility, which is good enough for me). Funny that you mention this, kaiser, as this has been on my mind for a while as well. Nothing would please me more than for AGEOD to produce a WW2 game, even if it only dealt with a single theater or campaign (along the lines, for example, of Viktor Reijkersz's excellent "Decisive Campaigns" games),...

Hi geogus -- No apologies necessary for your English, which is quite good. Regarding CW2 -- I really don't think you need a deep knowledge of the American Civil War to get enjoyment out of this game. You're not obligated to 're-enact' the war by any means, so you shouldn't feel pressure to do things...

Will you still play WWIGold after EAW comes out?

Just wondering how much of a following Calvinus's game still has. I'll certainly buy "To End All Wars" when it comes out, both to support AGEOD and because I'm genuinely curious to see what the game is like, and I have no doubt it will be fun. Still, I wonder if it will dethrone WWI Gold as my "go t...

Yes, it's the grand sweep of the whole 19th / early 20th c. era that makes PON so appealing to me. Thanks to everyone for the informative feedback. I'm tempted to dive in but I may have to wait for the next patch. It sounds like the game still has some fairly serious glitches. State of the game, mid-2014?

I have my eye on PoN, but I'm wondering how playable the Grand Campaign has become, several years, patches, and add-ons since original release? I'm a relative noob with AGEOD games. I made a serious attempt a couple years ago to learn Napoleon's Campaigns, and despite my efforts just couldn't get th...

Booking *Reactions* - is there an effective way?

As I understand it, the only way to do book a Reaction is to Pause the AI once you've completed your turn in Military phase, then select your Army & book. But, fiddling with the Tannenberg scenario for example, as Germans -- it would be useful to be able to book a Reaction to interrupt the coordinat...
