Well after much hard learning about not moving during the winter..... I fielded a new army under Joe Johnston and railed it down to Santa Rosa. I had Jackson Longstreet Magruder and Smith. Each division had four battery and the rest infantry. Final tally was thirtysix thousand men using the Army as ...

Chiteng(South) vs Thumis(North)

So it goes like this =) My opponent is like George Thomas, is you give him time to prepare, he will crush you. Against that type of opponent, you can either try and upset him, or get out of his way. He is an OLD SCHOOL war gamer, raised on games like 1914. So my decisions at the start: Full Mobiliza...

So is anyone interested in a new AAR?

I am starting a new game with an opponent who like me is NOT a veteran of ACW but is a 30+ year vet of war games. We both have played ACW before but we have never finished a game, and less than five started. So if there is interest, I will post AAR foe each turn. I am NOT savvy enough to include scr...

The community is still there, so dead, not quite. The game is very stable and we don't plan to introduce features, that's it. Well that is good because I do play the game and it would be a shame to see it dead. I mean there are some mechanical things in the interface that are akward, but the game d...

Activity? Is the game dead?

The comments on the last patch imply the game is dead from old age. I hope that isnt true.
What is the actual status?

Possible Bug? Army by army movement

While playing the game at times I need to drop out to windows to read my email and check the news.... When I go back in...no matter how hard I try, I cant get the army to execute a move. I can click on activate, and move to the new location, but the fist wont release. To work around this I have been...

90% yes, I'm just not sure about this: Refill of units is an action , not an order . Actions are performed immediately. So, even if you move first, AI plans her orders and performs her actions, you plan your orders (moves) and performs you actions too; then you execute your moves, provided AI has p...

Sequencing w initiative

So let me ask a stupid question: Assume Plan 17 and Grand Duke.... As the CP you gain initiative, just to allow the Ent to move first. They are forced to make attacks because the game forces them to. In the 2nd half of the combat turn, you absorb replacements and then exploit the now terrible positi...

The reason I tried CPU mode is quite easy to explain. The game 'Bombing of the Reich' dragged interminably, I upgraded my computer from an AMD 1800 to a i7 860 and the game dragged interminably, possibly even slower. However, when switched to single core mode, FINALLY the game screams. No more waiti...

This mode (in fact a batch file that launches ww1.exe in single-core affinity) is ONLY to be used if you have mouse lag in a multi-core config, running Win7 (maybe only 64bit versions). Other users may try it, of course, but if you have no lag, there is no reason. I have the default options in the ...

Explain better "won't install the maps"... I suspect you might have to reboot your system to get the machine back to normal mode prior to installing anything. The single CPU mode is primarily for running the game in single CPU mode AFTER installing the game and associated files. I definitely would ...

I see no buttons and I have run the config.

Hi there, I use avast and it was causing WWI gold to freeze, I happened to have FSstart from when I play Ill 2 Sturmovik, so I thought I would try it with WWI gold, anyway Fstart basically strips down programs running in the background including Avast for me and I think it will stop Avira for you.....

Program locking up

I use Avira which I thought was a good program however I cannot
turn it off. My only option is deletion?

running down the list:

Avira
Malware detection

are the two programs that protect against virus
I have no idea how to tell them that WWI is ok to run.

Do you know how?

No guide really. Those files are most of them Excel files with game data. Once modified, they are exported in csv format in the game and used in it. If you have desire to do some modding, the best trick to start with is to make a post here and describe your ideas / ask your questions... so we can c...
