Re: Difficulty Settings

I had best results with slightly extended range and an advantage in activation for the ai. Having your own troops being stalled while inactive while ai only loses performance while inactive seems to do it. Edge in production is not so much needed I always found. But if you really want to use the gam...

Re: Marching to the sound of guns.

There is only so many ways how tactical means like marching seperately and striking united can be modelled on our limited engines (both, software and hardware wise). Armies did cover large areas, jockeyed for position, held lines of communications, kept in touch via couriers, anticipated enemie's mo...

It might be the case that they don't have merchant ships in their force pool at all.

There is a database file somewhere, where you can check.

Albert Sydney Johnston is 4-2-1 Alexander P Stuart is 4-2-2 B. That is too much fishing in the dark here. Without sseing the composition of the stacks, there is hard telling. * As has been stated, the Army stack needs to contain combat units to get committed via MTSG at all. What? Where does it say that? That was misleading indeed. It was always my understanin...

Re: Game crashes

Quick guess would be that a unit is referenced for some action that is not there anymore. (Group (UID/Name) 1044527 1.Garrison Bn. Tradepost)
See if you can find appearances of that particular unit in your savefile and if yes simply edit it out.
That would at least be may first step.

Re: The collaspe of AARs

Hello! I am late to discovering AGEOD's games and therefore am generally reading AARs long after they have been finished so was unable to comment on them at the time they were being written. I have found them very useful when I am starting out on a game (so far only RoP and TYW, but WoS is on my li...

Works for me in any unit, except when there is only one element in the unit alltogether (sharpshooter, balloon,...). Still you can hover over that elements symbol in the elements list to the right when you highlight the unit

I have digged a bit in the event code. Have I understood correctly, that a chance of 25% exists over a rather long period of time to backfire. Is that correct and if so, has anybody ever successfully reformed Ottos?

Grey Fox mentioned it produces 50% more supply. Does it produce 50% more money as well? I ask because you say center of "TRADE" and industry.[/quote]

That was rather a figure of speech.

Civ lvl affects supply and transport afaik.

Re: How does one find Divisions?

Hit F!
Switch to forces list
Filter away fleets
Filter away non-leader units
(Filter away locked)

Sort by power value or elements

That gives you a rough list as big units are not nescessarily divisions.

I applaud your creative thinking. But it has a flaw. As with any economy with scarce resources, it is not (only) the shere number of resources that needs to be taken in account. More important is effectiveness. How much output one does get out of a given input. Output is action days and more materia...

While I do agree, that forts should be tuned up a little bit, they are generally working realistically. By the time the war started, most of the structures were already outdated. With range and "effectiveness" of guns exponentially growing and ships starting to get armored, the concept of ...

Re: Hold at all costs

I think it has failed loggic in HAAC calculations. Formula doesn't factor in % of casualties. It only has power ratios, posture coefficients, trench value and random dice. I had 2% casualties and they retreated because on a big number of combat turns, eventually low dice roll for retreat will appea...

CW2 opponent wanted

Historical Attrition
Slightly Randomized Generals
Medium Delay
Easy Supply Off
Traffic Penalty Low

I play either side, you may host, game can be registered at TWC, 3-5 turns per week.

If you want to write an AAR we can go at slower pace.

Houserules as will be discussed.
