Re: Must Do - Economy

I usually build Iron Works for the South for the cheapest option possible. That's for the early game buildup. Then switch to anything that gets me money. Mid to laze game bottleneck is mostly recruits anyways.

CSV Splitter rehashed

I am a bit puzzled yet again. It says the splitter only works on csv files with a semicolon as seperator. Yet the semicolon is the separator for the variables of many scripting commands, like ChangeResStock, for instance. I have a workaround, but is there an "official" way of dealing with ...

Because the event is written like that.
When the engine reads the Conditions section of the event and game date is outside min/maxdate, it will not execute it.

So, no, it will not appear anymore, unless you alter file USA Events.sct or write an own event.

Conditions
MinDate = 1861/04/12
MaxDate = 1861/06/30
Probability = 50

Meaning, that every turn between the specified dates the odds are 50%

That's because PON uses a different directx dll then other AGEOD titles, afaik.

If you find a Wine (or Proton) setting, that remedies that, do post it. I didn't, and god knows I tried.

Re: Aggressiveness

As far as my knowledge of the German unification goes, you have to distinguish the country Hannover from the region Hannover. As long as Hanover (or any other German faction, for that matter) exists as a faction, even if they don't possess land, the mere event chain can go on and the region of Hanno...

Question: Selecting units by SelectSubUnits

As the title implies. What am I doing wrong? I want to solve the dreadnought-before-there-time-problem with a script. Deleting and restoring with CreateGroup etc won't do, because there are only two barttleship units in the pool for Italy and both produce dreadnoughts, too. So I thought I could alte...

Re: Forming divisions for minor countries and other questions

I was looking at the AUS army reform event and came across the following lines:

Actions
ChgFormedCmdMax = 18;4
ChangeUnitPool = $uni_AUS_Corps_HQ_1805;18

Its part of the Corps formation event. What do the '18' and '4' stand for? Is it the number of corps/armies that may be set up?

A long read is here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?28767-Manufacturing-Italy-(a-PoN-GC)&p=267217&viewfull=1#p267217 In short, you sell to domestic and foreign demand. You are making plus, when the input materials cost you less then what you receive as revenue, naturally. In PON th...

Re: Is it possible to annex or take ownership of Siam?

Not unless you have a claim on any of the provinces, afaik. I wonder actually why the white peace mechanism doesn't kick in, in some situations like this. Generally, it is a misconception that in PON the gain of land is a gain of power. It is not. Quite the contrary actually. From an economic perspe...

Re: Using the Union Navy

1. Unless you have a substantial surplus in troops. It can give commanders experience and make them promotable. Many use Hooker to take the forts outside North Carolina. Other than that, yes, simply siege them down. 2. Bombardment, afaik, only works while moving. The can be worn by supply lack though.

Re: Using the Union Navy

There is only my two cents. Out of my head though. Brigs in the blockade boxes generate income for the South, merchantships in the shipping box generate income for the North and distribute supply. Transports hold supply and carry troops. Frigates interrupt merchants. Steam frigates are not worth bui...

Re: PON-PAN: Playing Any Nation

If I remember correctly, every nation needs an own laws&reforms file. That can be done by taking for instance that of Brazil and adjust it to fit the nation that you want to play.
But this has maybe been adressed with the last patch. It is a few years in the past.

I believe this is just a mixup in terms. I tried for both nations to generate WS and $ by sending ships with the transport property to every box around. It will only shuffle supply or provide supply for an attached fleet. In that it can help provide WS and $ because fleets stay supplied for a more t...

Re: Points to know for the Confederates

A supply cartridge might be benefitial. It gets you a combat bonus, but on the other hand uses up support unit slots in battle. Do they? As in a carrage could take an arty slot? I find that hard to believe. It was always my understanding, that all frontline units take up the frontline slots and all...
