For waht I remember, the reason could be the transport value of your fleets is not enough for the Saxon army. Check all infos and tooltips. If needed, split the army just enough to allow the treansport capacity work.

Very strange, I do reproduce the freeze, but I cannot understand the cause. I have to investigate...
In the meanwhile, you can use the attached savegame ([ATTACH]28809[/ATTACH]) to continue playing (I managed to exit the freeze using the debugger).

Are you running the game as PC Administrator? UAC is disabled?

Mmmhh... the map update is performed only during some steps. For example after AI has finished "thinking", or just after the battles resolution, or after the end turn/phase procedure, or after you have modified the game/fow parameters in options window... So this procedure is not performed regularly...
