Re: Training/Upgrading of militia, volunteers & conscripts

Line Infantry have ProgRate 10, not 5. Conscripts have 5, for what ever reason. I'm not sure volunteers having ProgRate 15 is necessarily a bad thing. I'm not even sure why they ought to be different from conscripts or militia or the other way around. Green/raw is green/raw. Actually, if there is a ...

Re: Replacements

You mean on the <F2> page? That means that all the replacement chits you purchased of that type in previous turn have been expended to replace missing elements and/or missing hits.

Re: Why can't I get a Corps activated?

What does the Create Corps Command SO button tool-tip say? Overlapping Army Command Radius is inconsequential. The Corps will belong to the closest Army. I think if both Army Stacks are equal distance, the "first" Army Stack it finds will be chosen, possibly going by the internal stack num...

Re: Why can't I get a Corps activated?

Is the leader you are attempting to give Corps Command to within the Command Radius of the Army Commander? Select the Army Stack and press and hold the <Shift> key. A large number of regions will be overlaid in blue indicating the Command Radius of the Army Command. If your ** or *** leader you wish...

Re: Training/Upgrading of militia, volunteers & conscripts

I think the solution is actually in the other direction; not in giving the South more Training Officers, but in reducing the number of Training Officers the Union has. On a side note, McClellan actually did have the authority to form policy to put a greater effort into training the men under his com...

Re: Ka Boom versus Pop Pop

I would guess, not too complicated, but too much work. IIUC the devs have to represent the effort to their bosses on the basis of ROI, which would probably be pretty hard to do with a game that has already reached market saturation, and on a point, which most current players are not even aware of. A...

Re: Ka Boom versus Pop Pop

When using a force that has enough 12 pounders elements in artillery divisions to completely fill the support line, does it make sense to remove all the 6 pounders possible from the same force? You are assuming you could know what support element frontage will be in a given battle, and have the opp...

Re: Not enough scenarios - biggest problem of Ageod games

Way-Back-When™ when I used to eat ASL for breakfast (if you don't know what Advanced Squad Leader is, you'll not be able to appreciate that statement), although the community playing ASL was fairly small--kind of like the AGEOD community--my greater worry was not finding enough time to play all the ...

Re: Fixing the AGE Wiki

Yes, exactly, the data is as far as I know all there, and if you look at the history most of it has not been changed for years. So it's not an issue with the article texts themselves. I at one point though it might be the templates, but from what I could tell, the templates had also not been changed...

Re: Army Commanders Not Leading Battles

That is too much fishing in the dark here. Without sseing the composition of the stacks, there is hard telling. * As has been stated, the Army stack needs to contain combat units to get committed via MTSG at all. What? Where does it say that? * There is no MTSG in the first round of the battle. I'm...

Re: Army Commanders Not Leading Battles

MTSG (March to The Sound of Guns) only ever affects Corps and/or Army Stacks in neighboring regions. An Army Stack is a Stack containing a leader with Army Command status, even if the leader is the only unit in the Stack. A Corps Stack is a Stack containing a leader with a Corps Command, even if the...

Look in '..\CW2\Events\USADistantBlockades.sct', New Orleans IS included. To see if it is in affect or not, the absolute certain way it to look in '..\Documents\My Games\CivilWarII\CW2\Scripts\' at the 'ScriptReport0000.txt' for the turns in question. '0000' is the internal turn number starting with...

Re: Fixing the AGE Wiki

I'm not sure what you mean by web development. WikiMedia is an application. I'm sure there are lots of things which must and optionally can be configured, but the content AFAIK still must conform to the WikiMedia format. Web development is a far wider set of possibilities beyond simple HTML support....

Also note, the log files are overwritten every time you start the game program, so if you experience a crash, you have to collect the log files before starting the game program again.

Re: Any suggestion? All Ageod games crash when loading

Apparently a whole lot of apps for many people with Windows 10 have stopped working since an early Jan-2018 Windows update, found by googling. One of the few solutions I saw that worked for some, but not all, was creating a new user account and using that to start the app. I kind of have my doubts, ...

I am running Windows 10 64bit Pro, and am having no issues starting CW2 nor WON, both installed natively--not Steam--into folders outside of 'C:\Program Files' and 'C:\Program Files (x86)'.

Re: The Blockade System Explained

IIRC it's because New Orleans has a canal system out to Lake Pontchartrain and from there through Fort Pke at the south-east side of the lake into the Gulf. This isn't terribly apparent, because the game doesn't allow for a region to have two harbors, which NO kind of actually has, although the Lake...

Re: Native Indians regional devisions

There's no need to remove Indians at this point, you can simply ignore the Indian RGD's and that's that. The simplest fix--making the Subversion RGD work--would also be the easiest. We would only need a command and or parameter in a current command to evaluate whether target units are neutral--relat...

Re: Native Indians regional devisions

With the current possibilities of Event and Regional Decision scripting one cannot really write the RGD's to work sensibly. In addition, Indian elements all have the exact same faction (IND) until they are taken over through one of the major factions, when they take on that faction's designator. The...

Re: Colored Troops military option

The events in the game very often hold to the historic timeline. I don't think it would be possible to reference IF there were a battle during the previous turn nor its outcome. I personally would not assess the actual battle of Antietam as having had a high NM gain. The only thing that defined it a...

Re: crash and log post

Are you playing a lot of turns one after the other in one sitting? There is an issue if you do that, that after several turns the chance of having things like access violations seem to ramp up. If this is the case, I can only suggest, after each turn execution, quit the game program and start it aga...

Re: A Case for Using Only Pea Shooters

I think Frontage is one of the most confusing thing in the game, bc it is not apparent, and not intuitive. It is however logical. The first aspect of frontage is that it's like a yardstick; a ruler 3 feet long. Now, don't start assuming this is how much room you have to put your troops in, bc it's n...
