Re: event code

I've had some time to start analyzing this script. First preliminary results are that several events have 2 (two) MinDate parameters: evt_nam_TUR_EmpireReformFailure_Test1807Above100 MinDate = 1807/06/01 MinDate = 1808/01/01 evt_nam_TUR_EmpireReformFailure_Test1807Below100 MinDate = 1807/06/01 MinDa...

Re: My greatest wish for Civil War2

While I agree, that would be really great to have, with the current engine, it's not possible. Many things in the engine use days for their takt. For example, loss and gain of cohesion is calculated daily for each element(!!)--yes, kids, don't try this at home  But unfortunately, some paramet...

Re: event code

Basically it adds a 50% chance of the event failing, to what ever other conditions are present. The script engine goes through the Conditions section from top to bottom, and if all statement are Boolean "True", then the event fires successfully and does what is in the Actions section. A qu...

Re: Historic of Nations [F5]

IDK maybe I'm missing something, bc I'm always seeing the 7 Major Nations (France, UK, Spain, Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Turkey, plus 3 minor nations, depending on which faction you currently have loaded. For example, Russia might see Saxony, Denmark, and Caucasus Tribes, while Spain sees Hessen,...

If you haven't saved your turn-plans yet, and you don't mind losing the plans you have already made, simply reload the save you just loaded, and everything will be back to the way it was before you merged the two stacks.

Re: CV1 vs CV2

I think the greatest improvement going from AACW to CW II is that the retreat rule finally got developed to its current working state. Pocus spent weeks trying many things out, tweaking and testing, until he had developed IMHO a very logical and historically correct paradigm. Retreats into enemy ter...

Re: Noticed many leaders cant be promoted?

In AACW McCulloch was promotable, up to Maj. Gen. IIRC I read, this was not carried over to CW2, bc he had never lead a formation larger than about the size of a division at the time of his death. BTW he was killed during the battle of Pea Ridge, not Wilson's Creak. First off, AGEod is not directly ...

Re: Civil War III

http://www.nellaware.com/blog/civil-war-army-organization-and-order-of-rank.html This states that CSA Divisions were sometimes twice as large as the Union's. What if we only gave Union Divisions 10 slots? Until CW3, such a house rule might put some new life in the CSA. Without having looked deeper ...

Yes, but doesn’t the CSA player receive replacements quicker than the USA player based on the historical fact that the Confederacy placed more importance on filling up existing regiments compared to the Union’s reliance on new regiments in order to take advantage of the higher rate of recruitment t...

Simply 'hot-seat' the game. Load a running scenario as one faction, issue your orders and save them. Then load the next faction you wish to play, and issue orders for it, etc. etc., until you have issued orders for all the factions you wish to play. When the turn is executed, and factions without or...

Re: Random generals

The player's omniscience of the game has often been the subject of many discussions. Currently there is only one option to address this issue -- 'random' leaders. GF already described how it could make the game unplayable, but simply the way random leaders are generated--the characteristics of gener...

Re: Civil War III

First off, the military operated under the constraints set by Congress. How the nation was districted was a congressional act, which determined the number of armies which were to be formed, and their sizes, and the rank of their commanders. The use of the Divisional and Corps Command structure are e...

Isn't there also a second chance a reform sometime like around 1810?

Gray rays are pretty ambiguous, and I don't think you can discern anything from them other than that they are not black nor blue. ...

Well, in the region files ofc :mdr: '..\CivilWarII\CW2\GameData\Regions\*.rgn' I don't know what the gray rays mean. They seem to be inconstant, where as the Brown, Dark and Light Blues and Black seem to be pretty consistent. I seem to recall that Pocus said he left it as-is, because the unclrear (g...

First off, Cleburne is natively 5-3-6 at all ranks. At any rate, if the former is true, he might lose some XP (eXperience...

Re: Some rule/mechanics questions from early play.

Those 2 replacements that you see in the message boxes are elements which were replaced in units which were missing them. You do not get messages about how many hits were replaced at the start of a turn. You do not need to buy any fixed number of replacement chits; that would make no sense. As you h...

Re: Some rule/mechanics questions from early play.

Another question here - I just don't understand how replacements work. I hit F2 and see the screen. Many of my forces have no replacements available; I assumed this meant it was a waste of resources to buy them. For the other, I'll buy 6 or 7 (usually line infantry) but then I get a message that sa...
