Re: ACW1 or ACW2?

Civil War II is the further development of AGEod's American Civil War. About 90% of the rules are identical. Most of the 10% fixes things which desperately needed to be fixed, like the retreat rule. I have very fond memories of playing AACW, but I cannot see myself ever going back to playing it, but...

Re: A few various brainstorms

Yes, they do, but not exclusively. During supply distribution, the game checks how far an hypothetical supply unit could move within one turn as the basis of how far supplies can move in each of the 3 distribution phases, and this depends on non-road/track/road status PLUS civilization level. Both h...

Correct, both sides can still invade, including being able to invade on the same turn.

Re: Kentucky Secession

What has a better chance: Kentucky Neutrality or Foreign Intervention? *bffff* Aside from invading KY, as far as I know there is no way to influence KY joining one side or the other. FI can be influence, and basically only works on direct and indirect influence, so you cannot really compare their c...

Re: Kentucky Secession

IF KY joins a side, loyalty will lean toward that side, plus you get more militia and other units, plus IIRC a slightly larger KY unit pool. I'm not sure if the "too many troops too close to the border" events are still in the game, but I don't thinks so, so other than outright invading K...

Re: Movement out of region when enemy is present

Chocko's opponent is trying to move out of the enemy's ZOC (Zone of Control). This has nothing to do with retreat, and ZOC has not changed in many years. The formula is: (Pv / Ev) - (2 * Ev) = MC-Min Pv = Patrol Value of the defending forces in the region. In this case all of Chocko's forces in the ...

Re: A few various brainstorms

I don't think so. Roads are not roads. That is, movement through a region depends not only on track/road, but also civilization level. So moving along a road in the east where civ levels are generally 70%+ is not the same as moving along a road in the trans-Mississippi where the civ level may be onl...

Re: WON Public Beta patch February 24th - 2017

If you go into Steam -> Library -> Games -> right-click Wars of Napoleon -> Properties -> BETAS tab you will see that a 'beta access code' is required to take part in beta for this game. I don't know that AGEod ever does this in Steam. They only ever offer betas for the stand-alone game.

Re: Seemingly Buggy Game

From this post, nobody can tell anything about any issues you might have. One general issue, of which I know, is with executing multiple turns without quitting the game. Depending on the size of the scenario (from my experience) executing 2 or more turns, one after the other without quitting and res...

How do you mean, "war bonds won't issue"? How are you assessing this, and what are you expecting to happen?

IIRC issuing war bonds simply gives you money and might lower inflation a bit.

All the scenarios, which includes the campaigns, generally use all the same events, because it's all the same war with only time frame and area limitations. Generally the theater campaigns simply have a trimmed down copy of the set of events used in the grand campaigns. But in trimming down, one eve...

Re: Stopping the AI from building so many ships!

If you load the opponents side of the game, and then save that side's orders, during turn execution, those will be the ONLY orders the opponents side has. The AI only generates orders, if there is no ORD file for that side to execute. There is a parameter which can be set, so that during turn execut...

IIRC Pillaged and (I don't recall what it's called at the moment, if you have Foraged in a region, it can occur), but both are removed during the next autumn in the game, when fields have been harvested again.

Re: Why won't he siege?

Siege is an automatic status, occurring when one side (defender) has >= 1 stack inside a region's structure (city, fort, etc.), while the attacker has >= 1 stack in the region, which is not in PP (Passive Posture), measured from the start of a turn.

Because back when the manual was written, each side had their own TRN file. Since then the TRN files were combined into the HST file, so that there could be no mismatching of files.

For every three experience stars, the strategic rating increases by 1. To a maximum of 6.

First assure that your game settings only give the AI a small detection advantage. The AI plans with what it "sees", and if it sees a bunch of un-garrisoned locations way back in your hinterland, Athena is likely to go for one or two, which is actually illogical, unless it's maybe Pittsbur...

IIRC texture size is the amount of memory (probably graphics memory) allocated for pre-staging textures, ie all the map region textures. It should making scrolling across the map work quicker, in that textures do not have to be loaded on the fly.
