No, I have not tried the shortcut yet for my laptop. I won't get on that until later this afternoon. I knew what you meant about physical and logical. Virtual is the same as logical. It's like the virtual (or logical) ram drive we would set up in DOS in the old days to make programs run smoother. :)

I suppose that your processor supports hyperthreading. You have one real processor and another virtual Multicore processors have several real cores, like the core2duo. Lately intel released the i7,... reintroducing hyperthreading, so you may have now 4 real cores and 4 virtual for a total of 8 thre...

OK. I understand. The issue I have though is that when I right click on a program in the Task manager, I am given an option for setting the affinity for "0 or 1", and with this being a multithreaded CPU, even Windows thinks I have a multi core system. It reports that in my system information. It's c...

Single Core CPU shortcut returns error

The batch file returns the error that "/affinity is not a valid argument." I have a single core multithreaded 3.6 ghz CPU running on XP Pro 32 bit. I can open the Task Manager and right click an exe running and I have the option to Set Affinity for it, so this is a weird error. Any idea what to try ...

I couldn't remember when I said this if my Vista machine had that option or not. Shoot, well that's too bad. My laptop has Vista on it and when I fire it up tonight I will take a look at it. Seems though that I looked for the slider for acceleration before and it wasn't there. I have to look again t...

Wow, I feel stupid. :bonk:

Engage button freezes

I installed the beta patch this morning, but this has happened before the patch even. This has happened with my laptop running Vista and also my desktop running XP. Totally different machines in every way. When I set up my troops and go to click the Engage button for battle, it's not available. It's...

It's some sort of integrated one with my laptop: HP ProBook 4510s I had a similar problem with a different game, but I found out it was my sound card causing the problem. I went into the dxdiag menu and on the Sound tab I turned the acceleration down all the way, then slowly increased it until it c...

Yes I'm the same Larry. :) No, I would never install a newer version over an older version of a game. It's a clean install. I do have an idea what may have caused it though but testing it will take a couple of nights. Are you familiar with avast anti virus? There is a silent game mode and also an op...

It's the very start of the game. The items I described are the very start, the first thing when the scenario starts.

It's not a stupid question as you don't know from your end whether I am an idiot or not. :bonk: :) I have played the game since it first came out in 2007. The lags I am very used to. The mouse cursor was gone, nothing animated, it was frozen. I have seen the lag after I close the newspaper hundreds ...

I hit the F9 key and the AI did it's stuff just fine. Then the next thing that happened was the newspaper displayed and I read what it had to say. Then I close it and that's when it froze. I have not had UAC running for almost a year. I hate that thing! Everything I run is under Administrator. Am I ...

2 Player Campaign freeze in Gold edition

Started the 2 Player Campaign as I have done many times. The first thing I did was press F9 for the AI turn. Then I clicked the opening newspaper to close it and it froze. No information other than a complete freeze of nothing working. So I did the three finger salute to the Task Manager and closed ...

An important question: does the freeze occurs always after you click the yes/no intercept button???

Yes. Only after I click the check mark box or OK. Until then the timer is counting down and everything is fine.

I tried suggestions from above and it would not freeze. However, the last three times I went to play Tannenberg, it froze twice! The first time I waited until 10 seconds and clicked the check mark. The second time I clicked at twenty seconds. Quite a bit different. Both times I had gone into the upp...

My guess (for what it's worth) is that it has something to do either with the interface (notice in my pic how I was able to choose simultaneously all the interception options - minimum, half, full forces - I was able to roam the map, but the ok -or the cancel - button in the interception window did...

Pause key for AI?

My laptop has no pause key. I don't remember what I did in the original WW1 game to get around this, but in the Gold version, so far nothing is working.

What do I do?
