OK, thanks. From what I have on McClellan so far, the man was no fool, just ultra-cautious as a result of inexperience and an over-active imagination. In fact, at the beginning of the war there were several over-cautious commanders, including Sherman himself, so McClellan wasn't alone. I wonder what...

IMO the usefulness of the generals roster is hampered by the fact that after your sort the list by name, the sort is run on the full name, not the last name. Thus when you go down the sorted list looking for Gen McDowell, you had best be aware that his name begins with a 'I' (for Irving?) and not wi...

When was McClellan found out ?

Hi all - As a result of playing this game I have begun reading Shelby Foote's Civil War Narrative and have become interested in how Gen McClellan chronically overestimates the size of the Confederate forces he faces. He continually writes to his wife, complaining about the lack of cooperation from L...

I'm not going to sulk since this is the best game I've played for ages and I'm winning right now.

Agony of Embarking

I am in the process of transporting a Union army overseas to New Orleans-Mobile area, and am confounded by the clumsiness of my attempts at embarking and dsiembarking. Here is my problem: My transport fleet takes several turns to arrive at its destination. I see that it will arrive there on the seco...

Message Log

I would like to preserve the message log messages from an entire campaign -to see if I can piece together a sort of historical record of the campaign / war. So I wonder if the message log is actually a text file. If so what is its name and where is it found ? If not so, then is it possible to copy t...

Thanks for the replies. 1) I once found an option for battles, but after I read up on it, I was lead to believe that this option delayed the onset of a battle in order to increase the possibility of the arrival of additional friendly forces. Guess I'll look at the options menu one more time. 2) OK, ...

Since this is a thread for Noob questions . . . 1) Can someone tell me how to slow down the display of the 'battle oval' ? I would like to get a longer glimpse of the map and the forces there before the battle results menu shows up. (I sometimes have trouble remembering the places given in the battl...

Does attack posture include neighboring regions ?

Hi all - If a corps/division/stack has the attack posture setting for that turn, will it attack enemy units outside of its region, assuming it is aware of them and can reach them that turn ? This is what seemed to happen 2 times with Beauregards 50000 man army in the game I'm playing. His army attac...

Hei - Here's a suggestion from the newbie (me) point-of-view: From what I remember when trying to repair raillines, the turn that I arrive in the region in which I want to repair the rails, the repair-rails button is not activated (unless the region I start the turn in has rails eligible to be repai...

OK, SoloWolf, thanks for the advice. But regarding you advice not to put too many troops in a city - the manual states that all structures give some (defensive) protection, not true ? So I would think that setting a force in a city just after it has been taken can't be much worse than leaving them o...

Hello All - Who gets credit for winning a battle ?

Hello all - this is my first post on this forum. I received this game as a Xmas gift and am enjoying it immensely ! Anyway, I have a question: It is early June 1862 and I am playing the complete campaign as the union (my thinking is that on my first try at this game I should play as the overdog, sin...

I bought my game at SpaceWorld (MetroSenter Mall) in Norway. This ain't fair ! Plz send me my validation key !
