Thanks Chaps

Dear Chaps, Thank you so much for your splendid assistance on this issue. I really am jolly grateful to all of you....... taking your advice I have played the demo games...quite interesting but I think I will hold off until the compliments about the game become a little more vociferous and some of m...

Good point old Sport!

There is a bit of a problem here for the business -- not only was WWI a disaster on roll-out, (much much better now). But AACW has gotten better and better and better -- it's still well worth buying. It's the reverse of 'planned obsolescence.' Which is, by the way, one of the reasons for AGEOD to k...

Not certain if your logic scans old chap.....if AGEOD are promoting it, perhaps there is something in my reasoning.....once bitten twice shy old boy! While I realise I am not exactly displaying "Cavalry Spiwit (sic)" I do feel that previous failures often are an indicator of potential future outcome...

Not certain I will risk it again

At the risk of being considered a cheapskate...I am not certain I will risk the investment in RUS. The problems I still experience with World War One Gold mitigate against me buying another AGEOD game......my position being - "wait until it is in the remainer bin in two years time after necessary im...

FINALLY ...the game we thought it might be!

Finally it looks like the perseverance of the AGEOD team is bearing fruit......the game is begining to deliver on the hype of 2008. ...what we now have with the Gold version is an absolute gem of a game......(saving the fact that there is no pbem version!).....and one that I am increasingly enjoying...

By Lightcavalryman - an AMAZON review

By Lightcavalryman - an AMAZON review Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars This game was released in a state that probably should have had AGEOD charged with obtaining money by deception! Terrible product at first release.....(and believe me I've seen some bad ones!)....HOWEVER...thanks to some mega patching it i...

Attack on America

For what it is worth I know that early German War plans included arrangements for a German Naval Bombardment of New York and a possible landing of German units on Long Island ......all given up when wiser councils prevailed...but I understand that the Kaiser was all in favour at one time? Somewhat b...

The circumstances and results of such a war were not fully understood-certainly not by the various civilian populations who were jubilant at the opening of hostilities. I think it might repay a little reading around the subject on this issue of joy at the outbreak of war. The evidence of a few prop...

Maybe we should start a new Condom use thread????

The German military was the first to promote condom use among its soldiers, beginning in the later 1800s. Early twentieth century experiments by the American military concluded that providing condoms to soldiers significantly lowered rates of sexually transmitted diseases but I believe that social c...

Magnifying glass required for events

I noticed in a recent game that the font for information concerning the "Suprise" event needs a magnifying glass to read....am I missing something?....do I need to go to the optician?..... or is there something that can be done about it within the code? Does this happen in any other Events...I think...

I think it is also true to say that the Germans were a little suprised at the scope of their success...a slightly more optimistic approach in the planning cycle at the start of March 1918 might have given them the option of going for Paris at the start of the offensive.....and several commentators h...

Err...might I object in ever so slight a manner old chap?

Also the Schlieffen plan did not take into account the diplomatic changes that had taken place since its inception. Like all the other plans made prior to WWI, they were also faulty in the sense that each antagonist thought that they were going to fight a war close to the Franco-Prussian war. But i...

Victory in 1918

For what it is worth I have just comleted a game (1918 Scenario) achieving victory as Germany in January 1919.
