I tried to use generals like bragg who had the training officer ability but it seemed like the units under his command never got any extra experience no matter how many turns went by. That's the ability to turn 'conscript' units into 'regular' ones isn't it? If it is, it's worth checking into the c...

US Army War College Videos

There's some fantastic lectures made available by the US Army War College on youtube. Link to their youtube channel. Really enjoyed this recent one, which goes through the context of the Gettysburg Campaign in terms of a strategy of exhaustion from the Confederacy and Lee's appreciation of what he n...

Juba overly ambitious? :D Just on overambitious AIs though, if a few start reporting that Pompey's using his Eastern Legions to vanish into Parthia (well sending Marcellus with them into Parthia), that may be one thing to look at on a long rainy day for this scenario. Athena's decided to go to Babyl...

Yeah, one of those where by the time I'd realised Juba was still at home, I was knocking down his front door. Willl check script to see if I broke it when I've had a couple of chances to be surprised, as from what you say it seems like he shouldn't be avoiding me. Caught between wanting to poke bene...

Someone needs to put bromide in Pompey's tea - he's authorised an invasion of Parthia whilst fighting the civil war in my current campaign after I got a message that he'd done some sort of deal with them. Looking forward to seeing if his troops manage to get down to Babylon from their curren...

Thanks Franciscus - think I've identified culprit; didn't realise game had installed directly onto C:/ so it could have been smart defrag having a peek to see if it could have a quick tidy-up. Will know for future should that one pop up on a crash. Given Caesar vs Pompey and the Severus campaigns a ...

This is default on this system when playing non-online games. If I run into anything similar again, I will play with memory usage. Will try reverting to s...

AJE, 1.02b RC1. Septimus Severus scenario. Crash during turn processing with a message to report on forums. Hopefully nothing important, although loading from saves for me now just causes the game to perpetually save itself when 'next turn' is clicked. Bit sad because it was a fun first campaign wit...

Thanks Franciscus. That is exactly the problem it seems. Loading via AJE (1.02b), and not BoR, allows for my amphibious cavalry (Dutch sea horses!) to be recruited. Thank you for checking. Will use AJE now for AJE scenarios unless told otherwise. Sorry if that was making work for you.

I notice each faction maybe do 3 or so a turn in total. So it doesn't seem to me to be particularly excessive. The only time I've been a little concerned so far was when the Carthaginians, within a month or so of the First Punic War starting, began to put down Enslave RGDs on western Sicily. Wasn't ...

Clodius unable to recruit mercenaries? (Septimus Severus Scen. 1.02b)

I'm really sorry if I'm missing something silly here. Hopefully I am, but I can't see it. Have tried a forum search but could find nothing relevant. Currently playing Clodius in the Septimus Severus scenario. Since the scenario start, I've been unable to recruit mercenaries on the Imperator page. Th...

Seems a bit unfair that actively defending the mountain passes triggers sufficient panic in Rome that they're willing ...

This is the third fresh install since 1.16a sadly. Appreciate that debugging without a repeatable bug is a pita. As I said, just flagging it, because game has been so stable for me for so long.

Hi lodilefty, it doesn't repeat. Just to correct an error, the region in question was Montgomery, Alabama. On reloading, an extra unit of militia is present in the region. Some units (militias only I think) created by event do not have real names. 7.1 sounds like it is one of those.

Though it probably didn't hurt anything, installing this MOD over the top of v1.12 would accomplish absolutely nothing since the newest v1.12RC1 has this MODs files contained within it. Note (as posted in the 1st post of this thread): Lastest version uploaded is 11/02/2028 and adds on to the v1.11d...

Problem with only firing if opened fire on is that it makes the forts protecting navigable river entrances absolutely pointless. I find Athena quite challenging and acts appropriately against a CSA player under last few beta patches when she has extra time to think and with historical attrition on. Normal settings otherwise. My current 1.12RC 1861 campaign is certainly intriguing.

Hi all, it seems for some reason I'm getting corruption problems which is leading to odd things in my game. The settings on Spybot can be configured to be as strict or as lax as you wish. I turn it off when installing the game (as with all AVs) to avoid corruption issues but haven't had any problems with AACW when running spybot in the background while I play.

All the best,
