I'm reading a book that takes place shortly after the Civil War in Kansas. One of the characters, a genteel Georgian dryly observes that the difference between a Yankee and a southerner is that upon meeting a Yankee he will tell you where he is going. The southerner will tell you where he is from. ...

Only two more days!

If you want to have the chance to win the free AGEod game, you have only two days left to submit your response to this month's quiz! Currently, we have less than a dozen responses! This means two things: ⋅ Your chances of success are statistically greater, if you submit your contest ...

Captain Orso's method for field cleaning 6 lbrs!

Captain Orso and I were discussing an AACW Beta Artillery issue via PM, and he sent me a GIF showing how to quickly field clean a 6 lbr! It's a very innovative method, I must say! :mdr: http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/Der_Ami_At_Bucket/Smileys/BazookaCleaning-1.gif Thomm...

Image resolution/zooming into images

[...] Now that our Queen has shown me how to post the image in the AAR I'm thinking they are a little small. Are folks having a hard time seeing these? If so I'll enlarge them. My personal opinion is that your images are the perfect size, but would benefit from higher resolution. If you save your i...

Step 1: Upload your attachment to a host site

Our forums' new format is still being tweaked to work out the bugs. One of the problems that hasn't yet been solved is what's called "local referencing". For whatever reason, the forums' server can't find attachments that are stored on the forums. Even so, the server can reference external links. Wh...

Recognizing TheDoctorKing and Andatiep

Several weeks ago, Hobbes and I developed a new method of doubling the speed of our PBEM games. Or at least, we thought that it was a new idea! However, after I started a thread to share the idea with our community, Longshanks pointed out that the idea was already being used by members of our forums...

Confederate Philately

On 1 JUN 1861, the United States Postal Service ceased all operations in the seceded states. The Confederate Postal Service took over all the existing USA post offices within the CSA. I don't like my nice watercraft to get near high velocity iron spheres. I hate Forts when afloat, they really, really ruin my day. I have the same problem. My experience has been that the right click that closes the ledger also decrements whatever I was wanting to reduce. And just as a reminder, every time you apply a new patch you have to reinstall the mod. The patch overwrites the instruction files that tell the program what pieces of music to look for and where they're located. So if you don't re-install the mod, you'll hear even less than the plain vanilla versi...

Why not use Imageshack to re-paste each image, like we do to post bug images ? I considered that, but I seem to recall some prohibition in the forum rules about directly linking to offsite images.
