Sorry but no Confederate field army starved to death in the course of the entire war. I'm not complaining about the fact that my armies are on low rations, that would be fine, I'm literally saying the entire Army of Northern Virginia dug in right around its supply bases in Richmond and Petersburg wi...

Noble attempt but this scenario is completely impossible as the CSA. Even if you manage to stabilize the fronts before getting completely whalloped by the Union armies your forces will inevitably starve to death by winter 64/65 no matter how much territory you hold.

While that may have been the intention it certainly doesn't correspond to reality since I don't recall all the Confederate armies starving to death around late 64/early 65. :bonk:

Yes this always happens in the 1864 campaign. I'm pretty sure it's simply a matter of the CSA not producing enough to feed its armies because the only time I managed to save the Army of the Tennessee from destruction was after investing in industrialization in Georgia and getting lucky with a bunch ...

Yup and I even did a clean reinstall of AACW and the 1.15 patch with UAC disabled just in case that was somehow causing a problem.

Looked at your file. SVF installation first copies all files of the game in the SVF directory then unzip the SVF files. In your case, for some reasons, the fist step isn't done. I suspect Vista is prohibiting copy. Posible solution: 1) erase your SVF directory 2) unzip SVF0 3) Do a copy of AACW dir...

No. Send me your file please For the record, I've just made a fresh install of the mod on my computer with the files I've posted in this thread. The mod works flawesssly. In any case: 1) check if your AACW path is the default one 2) if you're running vista, disable the UAC Alright e-mail sent. I'm ...

For what it's worth I'm having the same problem. Well maybe not the exact same problem since I have a Settings folder but I get the same "insufficient memory" error message and crash at start-up.

Clovis should I send you the main log file or do you already have a copy of this problem?

All what you say is OK, gray. But you misunderstood i think what we wanted to say : the question is about the forces that just want to attack and take the structure. - If defeated, why shouldn't they stay in the region ? They just fight on the city, not in the region around. - Next to this, if ther...

I would really like to see the retreat chance after a failed assault lowered significantly. Based on what I've seen in AACW besieging armies tend to retreat out of the province far more often than not after a failed assault which doesn't seem very realistic. I mean Grant launched three assaults on V...

This has become really annoying thanks to the fact that all leaders can now be promoted above their historical ranks. It's a great feature in general but I don't know how many times I've been forced to make a choice between taking a corps out of the game for a turn or promoting 3 or 4 non-entities a...

Personally I think if anything ASJ is overrated in the game. Certainly he shouldn't be better than he presently is. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can enlighten me as to what his claim to military greatness should be based on, other than Jeff Davis' good opinion ("If Johnston is not a general, we...

While I grant it doesn't make much sense from a logical perspective, IMO its a good way to check fort-spamming. If there was just a raw resource cost plus a supply wagon the Union player could build forts in every city he takes quite easily.

Hate to criticize an otherwise fine piece of work, but the entry for John C. Breckinridge isn't quite right. At 2 stars his stats are 4/3/2, not 3/2/2, and hes now generically promotable to 3 stars.

Still an incredibly useful list though.

I've gotta agree about the glorification of the 20th Maine. While they fought well, there situation wasn't exactly desperate and the loss of the hill would not have been quite as decisive as people like to claim. Actions like that involving the 1st Minnesota and Greene's defense of Culp's Hill were ...

G.W. Smith at Vicksburg

I've noticed in the 1863 and Vicksburg scenarios G.W. Smith is commanding a division at Vicksburg. However G.W. Smith had nothing to do with the fighting around Vicksburg. I suspect he was confused with General Martin Luther Smith, who built the fortifications around Vicksburg and commanded a divisi...

But I don't get why the total number of divisions simulates command and control/administrative issues. Historically its not like divisions required much in the way of investment or administration from up above, seeing as how they were just a general and a handful of total amateurs serving as staff o...

To the best of my knowledge the Indian units just duplicate themselves once (which I've always assumed was a bug). I've never seen them respawn if they are destroyed. However I'm pretty sure they draw replacements. Whether those are automatically granted or drawn from some other category I can't say...

Lost Serial Key

Hi, I bought the game in a store several months ago, and just reinstalled it today, however I can't seem to find my serial key. I've checked both the game box and the manual, and I assume the "validation document" which the prompter is referring to is for people who purchased the game online. Is the...
