To NY Ranger

Hear, hear! I almost forgot thanks for your reference to FY. Prviously I thought it was just a Mod (which usually I don't go in for). I did not realize it was quizessential to playing the game. Thanks for enlightening me. I have spread the word and 'all' of my gaming associates have jumped the ship...

What facts? About history I have far more confidence in vanilia RUS, even I may prefer some treatment of FY. I have neither the time nor inclination to get into thumb tacks and pin counting. Healthy historical debate is welcome in historical academia, however that must always be tempered with histo...

Make FY the official game!

The answer is obvious FY is an historical game simulation RUS is an abstract I don't know what.
Time it was fixed!

Kudos to FY

To put this in the most basic terms possible. FY should be the official game! The official game bares little semblence to historical fact. If it wasn't for FY my copy of RUS would already be in the bin which is a great tragedy as it has the potential to be a great game, one of Aegod's best. Now I am...

Trotsky bug

Yea I was the poor bloody victim. Ok Sorta and I are playing FY (thank god the offical game is so ahistorical you might as well name it after a Segio Leoneo spagetti western). Anyway kudos to Clovis FY is the game RUS should have been. Having said that Trotsky has just lost is 25000 main army to wra...

Thanks fellas

Glad I started an healthy and robust debate. Lots of good ideas, especially from Mexican and Narwhal  So far you blokes have concentrated on the eco/production side (which is a major fault) for me the glaring weakness is in the Dip game unable to reflect historical accuracy. TOC runs rings...

Red Air Force

Does the red airforce reinf option work? Now I know it should only kick in once every 6 months but I seem to get reinfs only once. We are not in late 1919. Each time I have ensured I have left the correct WSU, ma, money etc. Now if it is before the 6 months why does the option present itself? Surely...

Lack of Intelligence

Obviously the bourgeoise have their spies openly walking about the Kremlin delivering dispatches to Kolchak on a daily basis.
So it that it?
The game is meant to be like that?
Pray tell what historical basis is there for that?
Please tell me its player error or a bug.

Play Balance

Another suggestion is what TOC did. TOC added the third player as Poland (which historically in terms of influence and military might is absolutely correct). Now the white split as is seems ok but what about options for other players as Poland, Ukraine and Finland? Also the other minors should follo...

What's the point in playing an unrealistic game?

Now depite my posts heading I think this is a great game. Given that caveat it behooves all of us to push for the best possible product avaliable, i.e. a simulation that reflects historical reality but balanced by the fact that 'some' players may be brilliant enough or have a poor enough oponent to ...

Who wins the most?

Now quite possibly it is my inferior play as the Reds, but having played around 6 times vs players and AI (and being a very seasoned AACW player) I am continually having difficulty comining anywhere near replicating the historical success of the Reds. Now I have some observations but prefer to hang ...

Objectives page

Now am I doing something stupid or are the Reds intentionally not meant to see White vps and NM. In several campaign games I can only view Anarchists, Ukrainians, Poles and Germans, not particularly useful you must agree. On the other hand my white adversaries know all about me on their respective o...

We are playing the full campaign.
I activated the Anarchists 2 turns ago but can still only see Grigorev's force and can move none at all?

That's right as the Reds I could only see the western Anarchists near Odessa.
You may have to go back 2 turns

Trotsky keeps dying

ok 3 successive campaign games and Trotsky dies early in each one. This does not happen with any other leader.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Is related to his special train ability?
Next time I will save the game and upload, just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem/

forts and Redoubts

Thanks Seb :) There is an icon to build a fort for every unit without artilery and a message after the turn fort complete . But no forts are built luckly ;) just message error maybe. Same with single supply wagon unit that can build a depot with an icon but no depot after turn. Yes I have the same ...

Besides the benefit that Gray has said, when you merge two militia units (two elements in a unit) you can reduce to one command points, what is very important, especially until you can form divisions. Merging is utilising the same principle except on location ;-) I often accompany divisions, corps ...

Use the replacement system. It's what it is specifically designed for. It removes the burdensome micromanagement that you are doing. The only real use for merging is to speed up the production of 2 element militia units since the number of 1 element militia units is limited to a finite number allow...

You do know that you can go directly to the leader's location from the roster by clicking on the star(s) graphic to the right of the name in the roster? The roster also states what region the leader is located in (just below his name) Of course but their is no listing if the leader is dead! It is m...

Narrowing Bug down

Ok just looked on the roster.Watie, Morgan and Bee are all grahiclly 2 star generals on the board in my game. On the roster it says Rank 2 fro all 3. However the graphic star in box on the roster only displays a one star. Morgan and Bee I had no problem giving Corps to. Watie the program just wouldn...

Gamey Solution

Thanks Pat, yes I knew that about non-divisonal commanders surviving. You have obviously learnt to play around this one ;)
However it really isn't a very realistic solution.
That leader roster same as the unit roster for missing elements would be soooo helpful.

Watie's Promotion catches up

Jim-re naming the army you are quite possibly right on that one. Gray-Recently I stacked Watie with Bee's Corp and guess what? Bee lost his Corp and Watie became a Corp Commander (despite the numerous times I tried to do this the program would not accept Watie as a Corp commander). I canm upload the...

Labor Intensive?

Jim, admittedly my statehood passion is not critical and essentially superflous. However the ability to see what elements a brigade is missing and therefore able to merge the correct units is a major game aid indeed. To be able to see this at a glance on a roster would save enormous labour for playe...
