Re: Ideas on Trade Range, Acumen and Mercantilism

Thanks a lot for the clarification, understanding and acknowledging to keep improving the game. That was a short post with a lot of information ;) I have now doubt will get better and better. The community will probably keep informing what areas can be improved (according to us :D ). I will certainl...

Re: Ideas on Provinces, population growth and immersion

I agree that for infrastructure you can allready control it. Like you said you can just abstain from building in the other regions and that works sufficiently to focus on the one region you want to build. I was mostly thinking about food distribution. That's something you can't influence right now. ...

Re: Ideas on Trade Range, Acumen and Mercantilism

Let's say first you have a trade range of 5. Your region needs an import and can get it from internal provinces at ranges 3 & 4. No external regions with the resource are available. The trade happens exclusively internal. Then, the trade range gets upgraded to 7. Now there are another 2 external...

Ideas on Trade Range, Acumen and Mercantilism

So far, I've mostly played the game as Carthage, so most of my ideas will be based on those experiences. I've started an 1.02 and more recently a 1.03 game, though I've played 1.01 as the Belgae and Rome too so far. But, basically, all factions in the underdeveloped western Mediterranean. I imagine ...

Ideas on Provinces, population growth and immersion

First of all, once again my compliments for this excellent game. I've been enjoying it immensely so far. It's been a couple of years since I played a game so fondly as this one. I'm loving every minute I spent on it. Even more, it has me so hooked, I'm constantly thinking about it and it's got me ma...

Re: Obeservations about battles

Just stay on the offensive with elephants and take the fight to the right terrain and I will gladly let them face Roman Legions. Supported with the right general they consistently roll higher values, so I don't really worry about the 1 HP on the offensive. Defensive battles is what you have to worry...

Re: Obeservations about battles

Something I noticed that would make things more optimal, but this would be purely gamewise, as it's not really historical to my knowledge, but more the result of how the game-mechanics work and how attributes are given. That said, in offensive battles it's more beneficial to place large beast, War E...

Re: Observations 1.02

Allright. I will look one the map for the icons instead. But is there one for a region that reshuffled its building proposals? I was missing that type of notification. I've been thinking further about wars, conquering and diplomacy. - I'm thinking it's quite historical (and challenging) to be consta...

Re: Capital cities and changes in government

It's not about the most cultured city. It's about the city that produces most culture that turn, meaning you should put as many pops on producing the needed culture to produce the most culture in your realm.

Re: Capital cities and changes in government

Should that not be redefined? It works and feels a bit counterintuitive. a) I think it's a good way that some forms of government should be allowed to choose and influence the location of it's capital, but others shouldn't. Republic Rome for example should not be allowed to relocate it's capital. Ro...

Observations 1.02

I restarted a game with Carthage after the patch came out. I have some observations I wanted to share from my game so far: - I feel that AI nations still declare useless wars, though indeed less then before. For example: as Carthage you start at war with Syracuse. I took Etna from Syrucase so it was...

Re: Empires tip #1: Making a round trip

I'm actually using this feature to let my navies patrol the Mediterranean when at war in search for enemies popping up when nothing better to do. That way they always end up in a supplied zone and close to where I want them :tournepas Btw, the patch 1.02 tackled every issue I had with 1.01. Looking ...

Re: Best game from you guys until now - congrats!

well no, the manual has a section on Rome and Civil Wars and clearly indicates getting your loyalty to 75+ is a good idea :) Sigh. I only read 6.4 Loyalty and Unrest. Should have read 7.5 Civil Wars :D Oh well. I'll restart as Rome some day. Guess it was important to stay as a Tier II republic as l...

Re: Best game from you guys until now - congrats!

Since we're already way of topic ;) I'm in doubt whether it's a good thing that by 250BC I'm already an Empire. With so many objectives easily within grasp it was impossible to stop going forward to tier III, Empire. And I had almost no pops working in culture... I'm still in doubt what the best str...

Re: Best game from you guys until now - congrats!

Yes, I eagerly await managing my decadent empire :D But it's still only 250 BC and I thought about sharing some bits of my experience so far. Kind of feels like conquering the Italian peninsula is not that difficult as it might have been historically. Will there be more flavour added to mimic some o...

Re: Best game from you guys until now - congrats!

I'm really loving the game. Been playing it straight for two days now! ;) It has great mechanics which are surprisingly deep, for example the building construction is very interesting! Though I have a remark/question. I'm steamrolling my game as Rome so far, mainly because the whole bloody world is ...

It's one thing to play a boardgame and to be seated at the west, east, or north side of the map. It's another to play a PC variation and view the map from any other position than from the south. It just doesn't feel right--at least to me. The orientation of the map prevented me from purchasing the ...
