Bye bye

I have been talking about it in another thread, I was very annoyed of the crazy results some battle were leading to. Grant got all his troops with full cohesion, divisions perfectly organized with 1 sharp shooter, 1 cav, 4 artilleries, generals leading them are not complete crap either. I got 1,5 mo...

The two hard lessons I've learnt over the time are cohesion (you may have 4 times his troops, if you have 0 cohesion, they'll lose anyway) and supply. Since you don't directly manage it (except while moving constantly supply carts), you have to plan the supply receiving and sending points (build dep...

I agree about the fact that a dozen of tries is not statistically enough to deduce a rule.
But it's enough in this case to see that the difference between the best and worst result if huge. Too much in my opinion.

The size of a town captured, the fact that it is strategic or not, the casualties (big or not), the delta between both casualties (one size losing much while the other didn't lose too much, take the fort Alamo story as example, they all died, but it is anyway a positive thing in USA moral :) ), even...

Confederate regiments were regularly refilled with replacements according to what I've read. It was Union regiments which suffered from a lack of replacements, but that was because of Army protocol (flawed protocol at that). The culture was certainly present, but to say that a regiment wouldn't acc...

That's not really true. Many battles in the Independance War were defeat for americans. Little Big Horn was, too, a defeat. And what about Pearl Harbour or Kiska and Attu? But it's also true that USA never loose a war ON his territory. We must paid attention also to the fact that very few wars real...

Force march should not remove a lot of cohesion. I know cohesion is also the morale of the troops and that forcing them to march is not really good for morale, but it also represents simply cohesion, brigades staying together, officers with their men, etc... And to force them to march, troops manage...

5 ranks?? I'm no master of mid 19th century infantry tactics, but I had always thought the standard line formation consisted of only 2 ranks. Allowing larger formations to "wrap around" their enemies and flank them. Basically....the more men you have, the longer your line is....the quicker you flan...

In a instant all a regiment can be in the first line, but for instance not ALL regiments of the division are firing at the same time. This simplification is not far from reality as it is. Edit-> 400 men in a 2 rank line vs 1000 men in a 5 rank line 400 men fire less, but have more chances to hit. (...

andatiep a probablement trouvé.

I had never heard in France the American Civil War called american civil war (la guerre civile américaine). Neither in my studies or in any book (not that I have read much about it). It has always been the secession war. If you call it the Civil War, it's probably because you had only one in your hi...

Burn supply/ammo button

Like the destroy depot or railroad buttons, I would like to have a burn supply/ammo one. Of course it would cost some "time" like other options, something around 5 days. This choice exists when you capture a town and you are in the hit&run stance (but it doesn't always work). I think it would be log...

Is there some kind of unknown limit about the amount of reinforcements which can be bought each turn ?

Promoting problem ?

In the campaign I play, Nathanyel Lyon has been available for promotion. That was a good news, since he is one of the only able generals I have playing the north. Since he was leading a division, I then used the - button to remove all his units, put him out of the stack (the commander of the stack i...

I'd rather have an unit with pontoneer hability in each division than "losing" 2 CP in order to have a pontoneer unit in a corp but not in any division. My opinion.

I would also suggest putting all commanders who are not currently being used into an off board pool that you can simply draw from to place new leaders on the map. Once on the map they would have to be moved around normally. It would help with clutter and micro-management. I would suggest to add 2 o...
