Happy Decoration Day

In the US, today is Memorial Day. The purpose of the holiday in today's world is to remember all those who have died but especially veterans of our military. I especially remember my father, Donald King, a 25-year veteran of America's intelligence services who served in WW2 and Korea, and my step-mo...

This is indeed something, which Pocus has been working on over the last weeks. It appears to be fixes in v1.06-RC3 if you'd care to try that out :)

Can't seem to find the 1.06 patch. The link in the 'help improve" thread is broken.

Thanks! I had fun working on the other project, but now I'm ready to start working on a nice CW2 mod that will incorporate my options for a broader war as the result of FI.

How can I escape?

Just picked this game back up again after several months working on other projects. I started playing the July scenario as the Yanks. On the first turn, I moved McDowell's army into Manassas for the ritual defeat. I was duly defeated, but my units didn't fall back. So I set him to move back into Fai...

Yes, I think the "Moltke Plan" warplan somehow disbands the Western GHQ. Probably something to change in a future patch. I had to move Moltke back from the east to take command in the west and then I could form armies again (and Hindenburg got to be the GHQ in the east).

Why are all my armies suddenly not armies?

Playing the grand campaign scenario as the Central Powers. I chose the Moltke Plan. On turn 2, suddenly all the armies on the western front are mere stacks. From their former 50 command points available, they now have 24. There doesn't seem to be any way to reorganize them into armies. What happened?

My father was a soldier in that 1940 French army. His view was that things were going not too badlly. His division was stationed near Mulhouse, in Alsace. In late May, they withdrew from the Maginot Line fortifications and redeployed in the vicinity of Lyons. They fought several times against the Ge...

I'm thinking you might have run out of money. The budgeting process is very complex. Ultimately, I could not successfully install the Centennial Edition. I got a "bad key" result no matter what I tried. They were very nice about the refund. So much for that. Hopefully, AGEOD is going to continue to issue patches for WWIG.

If you don't like Steam, I just bought the game from Neuronzone over digital download. 20 Euros = US$27.95. Glacially slow download speed, however. Data on troop numbers and deployments on Eastern Front, 1917

I am considering working up a "full campaign" scenario for RUS starting with the October 1917 revolution. Does anybody who plays this game have any good data on troop numbers and deployments at that point in the war on the Eastern Front? All I have seen in sources I have consulted is some round numb...

The Great War is the beginning of the "American Century". Make sure you are using Random's naval mod. Otherwise seeking battle with the Royal Navy is foolish as in vanilla the Germans will shred you. Let the Germans attack you, especially on the western front. The AI attacks too much. The Germans should be out of morale by 1916 at the latest. With a live g...

Declining CSA NM after losing Richmond

I captured Richmond with McDowell's army in the summer of 1862, about June or so. As expected, USA morale went way up, to about 150, and CSA morale fell to 60 or so. I was expecting that USA morale would slowly fall towards 100 while CSA morale slowly climbed, absent any further big victories. As it...

Yes, Spain's industrial base was very weak in 1936. They could manufacture artillery ammunition, and a few simple armored cars, but most of the tools of modern warfare - tanks, planes, aircraft - had to be imported. In the game, this is handled through option play. The Italians and Germans give thei...

Yes, and it is highly readable. I have used this with students and they all loved it. Humorous, thought-provoking, it is a lot more about 21st-century America than it is about the 19th C., though. The theme is "the continuing Civil War" or "the Civil War and modern memory" to lift a title from anoth...
