Doubts about the Danish Intervention scenario

I am playing the Danish scenario and I find that Brandeburg is neutral, is that reversible? otherwise the Historical Mansfeld march into Silesia is not possible

However, the problem seems to be that I send my .ord file and then my opponent runs the turn, but my ordersd are not carried on, first it was the AI that played and when my opponent disabled the AI simply there was no orders carried on.

Problems PBEM game

Hi
I have tried to play a PBEM game, but when I save the first turn to send it to my opponent I find there is no .TRN file, just a .HST file and my .ORD file, any idea what am I doing wrong?

WE are not in disagreement here. I agree that cavalry alone usually could not defeat infantry. I disagree with the issue of cavalry becoming less and less efective along the 17th century. The improvement in cavalry drills and tactics made it more effective and more valuable, so it was fielded in lar...

Ok, then I understand that you say that cavalry was less efective in the 18th century that it was in the Middle Ages, no problem there. However you seem to imply that it was a linear progression, in which cavalry was less and less efective as time passed, and I disagree with. I will elaborate a bit....

Regarding the relative value of infantry and cavalry, it should be noted that accroding to Redlichthe Imperial Kuirassier received a pay of 15 florins a month, while a Horse Arkebussier received 12 florins. The pay remained the same up to 1640. On the contrary an infatryman was paid 9.6 florins in 1...

It's an interesting topic. What I was indirectly getting at in noticing the preponderance of heavy cavalry in this time period (or at least in the TYW modeling of it), was the lack of light (scout) cavalry. The armies seemed pretty much "all in" with heavier armored men on horseback and one assumes...

Charles, sorry I misunderstood your statement, you wrote "the importance of cavalry" so I took it measured in numbers, not in effectiveness. Effectiveness is much more difficult to asses than raw numbers, however you can be sure that cavalry was much less effective against infantry in the 1500-1600 ...

BTW regarding the figures you quote for the French army in 1635, you have to keep in mind that much of the infantry was confined to garrison duties, not for field armies. In that year of 1635, according to David Parrott the French army in the Low Countries started with Paper Strength of 28.000 Infan...

Charles, In fact I wrote myself the Wiki article on the Military Revolution you linked! So, to the point, you wrote from what I gather, the 1600-1650 period was a transitional era, when the power of infantry was on the rise due to changes in firepower, tactics, organisation and the importance of cav...

Well, after taking a look I see there could be after all a plethora of Kuirassiers in the game , for instance, in the 1622 scenario Tilly´s cavalry is all Kuirassiers but for the Croats, but in Guthrie OOB are just 1 Kuirassier regiment (Eynatten) and 2 mixed , the other 2 being Horse Arkebusiers or...

Well, I think I just answered you, before 1635 Kuirassiers were used mainly in pitched battles while the other cavalry tasks were assigned to Horse Arkebussiers. Later Kuirassiers become lighter, usually dropping completely armoured in exchange of a buff coat, just like other lighter cavalry, so the...

Yes that part is well-understood. I wanted to know if they were roaming all over the countryside as independent raiders and scouts--something you will find yourself using them for in TYW. In the early period of the war, before 1635, Kuirassiers were used as battlefield units, while the small war wa...

The original post by Charles was about the 1600-1650 period, in that period there is a definitive tendency to an increase in cavalry proportion, from the early battles, like White Mountain or Wimpfen, to the late battles. The Swedish at Breitenfeld had 14.000 foot and 8.000 horse, at Lutzen 12.000 f...

I would not go so far as to say that armies had more horse than foot but the ratio between the two arms certainly changed with a greater percentage of the former. There would always be an issue in monarchical, semi-feudal societies where for the most part only the upper strata could actually own ho...

A couple of questions...

1. How do you move your fleet to a coastal region and disembark the army transported on the fleet during the same turn?

2. If you use impedimenta units to build depots, do you eventually get new impedimenta units in your units recruitment pool, or they are lost forever?
