Jeff Shaara

Hi Everyone, Just saw at a book store yesterday that Jeff Shaara has published a new Civil War book (3 part series) called "Blaze of Glory". This one has to do with the battle of Shiloh. Apparently he will be writing 2 others having to do with Vicksburg & Shermans March. . . (according to Wiki) If y...

This idea crops up in a lot of what-ifs (including Turtledove's, of course) but I'm not sure how realistic it actually is. Yes, Britain imported a lot of cotton from the South, so had an interest in maintaining good commercial relations. But they could buy cotton from Egypt as well, and by the 1880...

Coldsteel, that is a question that could both fill volumes, and be answered in one sentence: The South, I believe, would eventually have to succumb to the North in less than fifty years because of superior manpower, economy, and because most things were invented in the North, because there was bett...

Good point Captain, There are so many what if's, in this case. Would we have fought again in WWI, more then likely, the South would have had a much closer relationship with Britian & France, so perhaps the North would have entered on the German side and had to slug it out on her own soil rather then...

Really fun thread to read. . . . and ponder. My question is. . . for those of us who are currently US citizens. As romantic as the South winning seems, could you really imagine the US being split up into 2 different countries right now? How different it would be. . . I can only imagine. Like it was ...

Great "what if" books if your into reading, there is a whole series by Harry Turtledove (considered by many to be the leader in Alternative History books) that starts during the civil war with the South winning and then going all the way to WW2. The series gets slow at times, but all in all, the 9 b...

You're right thanks. As the South you get New Orleans or Atlanta, besides Richmond. The move to Richmond on turn 4 is automatic from Montgomery, but I imagine this is canceled if opt to move to NO or Atlanta before then (I hope). Later noticed that Mobile is also an option. Good question...

On a side note. . . .being born and raised in St.Louis, I find myself attached to both sides of this war. . . . which I guess was pretty common at that time as well.

AACW is a wonderful game. . . . Personally for myself, like stated by others on here, the ACW always was / still is a passion of mine. . . I can't really nail down where that came from, no one in my family growing up was / were big history buffs. . . . But I remember when the movie "Gettysburg" came...

Sorry, I know this is an old thread, but I'm bored at work so. . . what else better then to go looking through the posts that are 3 years old! :-) I personally loved Tom Berengers role as Longstreet in Gburg. . . I have had the same issue with St.Louis in the past. Although, with my current game, it appears to be working as my approval rating there is increasing. . . but I guess that could be other factors though, I'm not sure. I also usually put Buell, or whomever else has that perk in charge of the Garriso...

Hi All

I just bought this game on Steam, they have it for $7.99 right now. . . and since I've had my eye on it for quite some time now, figured it wouldn't get any cheaper then that!
I have it downloading right now. Cant wait to dive into it!
