Not exactly, we started to work on another "big" project which stopped in 2005 because the publisher cancelled it, and shifted ressources to BOA (which was released early 2006). The VGN project started immediately afterwards, but was constantly delayed as we released other titles (AACW, NCP, WIA, R...

I have Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI for PC. Its a great game, very well done, but like many KOEI titles you have to spend hours building up your forces and power base, and then the second half of your playing time is almost constant combat. The use of fire in combat is lots of fun and worth buyi...

I have to say the thread title is ironic.

Don Greenwood once said to me at a wargaming con back in the 80s that computers were killing wargaming (Greenwood was the main designer developer at Avalon Hill at the time).

Now some say we have come full circle.

Just played through the tutorial today, the game takes some getting used too, it's rather unconventional.

The process for comabt and seige operations include things like flanks and reserves and fog of war, so a lot is going on here.

There was an obscure game that would be great on PC, and easy to make. It was called 'source of the nile' where you had a blank map of sub-sahara africa and you played as an expolorer and 'maped' the interior, meeting tribes and finding landmarks along the way. This game would also be fantasic with ...

I was always very fond of Avalon Hill's PanzerBlitz/PanzerLeader/Arab-Israeli War family of platoon and company level games. They weren't as detailed and realistic as Squad Leader , but they were simpler and easier to learn. You could actually play them in the time it took to fight a tactical battl...

Last WW1 game I played was Gun of August, the boardgame. It was a good game, but without enough spice... Philippe Thibaut's La Grande Guerre is a very different beast, with much options to play with. Too many counters and too little movement in Guns of August I thought. I would love to see 'Conquis...

Gulf Strike was a Victory games release.

Victory was made up of former SPI people that went to work for this branch of Avalon Hill rather then TSR, whom they felt killed board wargaming.

Mine is obvious, don't attack Belgium, that brings Great britain into the war. Without the British the french cannot defeat Imperial Germany, and teh germans could have possibly made a truce with France late in 1914 (after the French attacks into Alsace and lorraine fail) for a halt to hostilities. ...

Bonaparte was a dictator, he siezed control of the directorate and threatened to imprison the 500 if they failed to follow his will.

You can of course feel differently, but historically, he was of course a dictator.

French Cavalry tactics had to be tailored the fact that France was always short of horse, the allies always had more, usually better trained and mounted too. Napoleon always tried to eliminate the enemy army in a decisive battle to end a yearly campaign, this is not suited to ACW style cavalry raids...
