Re: So.... When? When is the game comming?

Game is coming out this fall. A second round of beta testing will start soon :indien: I am glad that it has not been abandoned. I am really fascinated by this subject, both of the wars covered are vital, and have never been done by Ageod before. Well, I will telly myself that the fall is not that f...

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

[quote="James D Burns"]Have you gone through the massive upgrade phase? This didn't start happening to me until after I went through the turns with almost endless lists of units upgrading being announced in the text area. If I had to guess I'd say it started around 1853-1854. I know by 185...

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

I have gotten a couple of years into my new British game, and it looks like Loki's quick fix has fixed the force pool problem, even with Indian units. I cannot tell about the Chinese, but I have not seen any huge Chinese armies yet. I built two British light infantry corps, when there were only two ...

Re: Burma wars

Made it to 1858 in my game and I'm still fighting with Burma. I waited until the event that gives a CB before declaring war though, so for the first few years I was just defending against a hostile Burmese Army with no warscore getting accumulated. But after the declaration I found that it takes 25...

Burma wars

When you start a full campaign of PON as Great Britain, you are the greatest power in the world, without a doubt, with vast colonies all over the world, large markets, high prestige, an invincible Navy, all kinds of resources, the best industrial development in the world, an almost complete rail net...

Re: Heading for a clear bright sun

Ah, another cliff hanger! It will be very interesting to learn more about the visitors from the future. Again, a nice merge between PON and the story. It is so tempting to move your troops too far in the early game, only to see fatigue destroy their cohesion, when you are in difficult areas. I still...

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

Jim, thanks for the detailed explanation. I ran into the immortal replacement bug, and was able to fix it by deleting some files that regenerated as suggested by Random. Come to think of it, I ran into the same situation you describe in my last game as France, when I could build any number of coloni...

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

Jim, I am wondering if you installed the fix for force pools that Loki100 referred to above. I started a new game as Russia using that fix, and the problem you have been describing did not seem to appear, even seven years into the game. The number of Corps, divisions, and brigades I could build as R...

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

Well I just landed a 2500 power stack of Indian Colonial troops on Hong Kong. Six infantry divisions and the rest artillery (perhaps 8-12 units not sure exactly), the theory being massed long range fire from all those 6lb guns will crush the low tech hoards before they get in melee range. If that f...

Thank you for explaining this. Until he dies or is removed, he seems to have the malignant power to crash the game whenever I try to attack him.

Re: The latest patch has greatly imporved the game.

There are some issues with Chinese force pool and events that make Chinese armies monster behemoth. Needs a bit more fixing still :papy: Ah, that makes sense. The forces they attack with are not doomstacks, but they will far outnumber your colonial forces. But it is possible to defeat those monster...

1880 scenario crash while looking at factories, and fields

In starting an 1880 campaign as France, I started out doing what I usually do with this scenario, turning off all factories and mines form the F4 screen, then turning on some of the individual factories, mines, and fields by going to an individual city, clicking on the area that holds the factories,...

Slitherine support team is analyzing this issue. During beta no one reported nothing similar. Be patient please I'm sure that we will find a solution. In theory this game should run faster as it has a small map compared to others. I bought this on faith, as I buy every Ageod game, the first day I c...

Thank you, that is a very inspiring post. That makes a lot of sense. No Russian player worth his vodka is going to take a big prestige hit just to delay a revolt that will happen later anyway. I also find it odd that his army is starving in Grozny. It did fine for several months. Now that I think of it, his army did not lose strength until ...

I enjoyed seeing the proper use of the term Svollich, as that is exactly the type of insult an Aristocratic general would use in reference to a middle class officer who opposed his will. I am really enjoying the notes you add at the end of the narratives, as they greatly enrich the experience, and p...

Yep, that exactly matches my experience - except he was in that fort in the middle of the Caucasus. It was clear it was the attempt to attack him that triggered the crash. Since this was late in the year I decided I would let winter and supply do the damage so I blocked him in - easier in my case a...

In my game as Russia, it is 1855, and I have been having a fascinating time putting down the Shamil rebellion. I have retaken all of the Caucasus, except for the province of Grozny, where Shamil is sitting with the remainder of his army. When the rebellion started, Shamil appeared in Grozny with a s...

Re: Heading for a clear bright sun

It looks like the Crimean war is coming. Very interesting to see how this will play out in your AAR. The only problem in this is I realised I had hooked the Anglo-French participation to the wrong test. So they arrive a bit late - but very dramatically when they do. I am about to finish 1853, as Ru...

Re: Repairing destroyed rail lines

Yes, they will auto repair, but it will take time.

But you can command a unit to repair the rails, and if the unit does not move, it should take only one turn. But you will need military control for this to work.

The AI loves to destroy rail lines in your home country.
