Re: Heading for a clear bright sun

On a different matter, i request that you consider using, among your group of Russian insults, the word Svollich. That may not be the correct English spelling, but it is a very colorful insult I learned from my mother. It meant that the recipient was from "down the river", which, whether ...

Re: Heading for a clear bright sun

It looks like the Crimean war is coming. Very interesting to see how this will play out in your AAR. The only problem in this is I realised I had hooked the Anglo-French participation to the wrong test. So they arrive a bit late - but very dramatically when they do. I am about to finish 1853, as Ru...

Re: Prussian Army Reorganization Post Muzzle Loading Rifles

Perhaps this has been a false alarm? Looking more closely, the individual units do say "Regular Infantry 1850-1870" which matches the new muzzle loading units....but the names and pictures of the "counter" didnt change....the still say "Armee Korps" and not "Infan...

Sorry, I have not seen what you are undergoing. Not upgrading after ten turns for your army corps. That is very strange.

Re: Repairing destroyed rail lines

Yes, they will auto repair, but it will take time.

But you can command a unit to repair the rails, and if the unit does not move, it should take only one turn. But you will need military control for this to work.

The AI loves to destroy rail lines in your home country.

Re: Prussian Army Reorganization Post Muzzle Loading Rifles

You may need to have infantry replacements for your army corps to upgrade. I suggest you check the F3 screen and look at infantry replacements. If you see a red number, that is the number of hits that will need to be repaired for the complete upgrade to take place. Red numbers over cavalry, elite, a...

Re: A quick fix to the Force Pool problem

The fix is working superbly. In my new Russian game, Austria attacked the Ottoman empire, as it did before. But this time, instead of conquering the Ottomans with its huge armies, the corrected Austrian forces made some initial gains, but were beaten back, and they made peace with the Ottomans, with...

Re: A quick fix to the Force Pool problem

I have used the Force Pool Fix in starting my new game, and I am now at turn 36. No crashes, no problems, and it does seem to work, as the Austrian armies are much smaller than they were in my previous game.

Glad you were able to fix the crash.

That is a truly beautiful screenshot. Nice work!

Re: Click end-turn, will result in going to the menu

Hi Pocus, Just had the same problem in Japan 1858. Tried to use backed up games. Went 5 turns before but each save gave the same result : back to main menu. Relatively desperating to have to begin a new game knowing it could happen anytime again after hours of play. Thanks for your help...and great...

Re: A quick fix to the Force Pool problem

Yes, slot it in after the existing 'end event'. That is a standard part of the scripting syntax and just tells the code to stop reading that particular event once it reaches that line. Thanks again, Roger. Will do. I must admit I am excited about playing without having to deal with super Austria! R...

Re: A quick fix to the Force Pool problem

The problem of the too powerful Austria has come up again - see Kensai's thread on the Austro-Prussian war. The key problem is that the precussion cap musket tech adds 5 corps of various types to the force pools. Austria thus not only gains about +20 but nearer to +80 due to the Hungarian, Czech ve...

Re: Heading for a clear bright sun

I really like how this is developing. There is a very nice pace to it, and the use of battle report screenshots as part of the narrative is sheer genius. The rage in Moscow over the burning by rebels of a minor fort reminds me of how annoyed I get when my forts and missions are destroyed by rebels, ...

Fix is here:

tested and it works - even if all it does is to stop replacement of excess formations but applied to a clean start it'll resolve the problem for now.[/quote]

Re: A 1866 Save Game, before all hell breaks lose!

Hi No, they are the spreadsheets that are the core data set for all the games events etc. You would need to use the mysterious csv splitter to convert to game files. I hate it even more than I hate the 'reginit' function for events (this being the only way you can code in 'or' commands). But I am w...

Re: A 1866 Save Game, before all hell breaks lose!

The additions are only handled via the Tech files IIRC. Enclosed are the latest (land and naval), the concerned lines are shown with a yellow/red cell. The base of FP quantities are given by nations in the 1850 GC, and those values are then "increased" by the techs (and almost instantly a...

I cannot go on with my 1850 game as North German Confederation so here is the save game in 1866 just before all hell breaks lose between Prussia and Austria. :) In this game I witnessed an AI Austria that has become a behemoth. Both Russia and Austria started aggressive wars against a weak Ottoman ...

Re: A 1866 Save Game, before all hell breaks lose!

That's a way...the other is to severely limit the force pool, which is way too generous now for both 'Central Powers'... I like this solution. The huge armies that Austria and Prussia raise are just too large. They did not have that capacity historically. As France, I fought three huge wars against...

Good to hear that the problem is not that severe. This AAR has actually got me interested in playing Russia again, especially with the improvements of the latest patch. Partly agree, I'm having to rethink my colonial strategy, not least I think that getting to 35% is going to be slower. But missionaries are cheap and anything that reduces the need to deal with constant revolts is to be welcomed. I find missions invaluable as supply sources for my explorers, or for...

some observations. Turn processing is now excellent. I think that RuS or Civil War2 now are slower - at least early game. The only state that seems to create 'odd' wars is France. So far in my game its managed to get into wars with the CSA (1850) and California (1851). I ended both by script. The d...

Actually it is even more complex than the expanded system in the sense that you have to count only on yourself and be careful all the way :papy: Absolutely true. And there are a lot of fine points you have to pay attention to or your army will melt away and lose its ability to fight. And this adds ...
