Yeah, VA you must hold at all costs, normally one army led by a decent general with elite units that make up atleast 2 corps normally do the job for me. I normally base them around Mannassas and the most I would do with them is attack Alexandria or Harpers Ferry, I certainly wouldnt use the army to ...

Right at the start of the game I normally move the starting Carolina department units straight up to that area and put them under the command of Polk, I find that you can build up a respectable sized force that can take and hold Paducah and Cairo quite early in the game and later on maybe St Louis.

I do not think France or Britain were ever going to join the Confedracy The French would not move without England and England would never support anything to do with slavery. L Certainly if things had gone better for the CSA at Shiloh and Antietam I doubt the North would have the willpower to conti...

note the key word guys (or girls) "might". Still for those of you who say no, why ? Remember my comments were in response to to leibstandartes scenario "win". The Trent affair had just happened and Britain had despatched over 10,000 troops to Canada, the Royal Navy started making preperations for Wa...

Being able to continue a war and losing a war are two very different things, if the CSA had captured Washington of course the Union could have continued the fight but politically it might have been impossible, they would have been forced to recognize the CSA as a sovereign nation and the other major...

Not sure what greater bonuses you have in mind, but in any event, the best way to maximize the total strength of a corps is to put support units at the corps level and pack 18 elements of combat units into each division with the following consideration. There are only 3 abilities that apply at the ...

yeah, would be nice if you could click on the newspaper report for individual units that have just been raised, for those of us outside of the US getting used to the local geography is a bit of a steep learning curve :)

wouldnt it make more sense if you added support units to your divs giving your greater bonuses rather than at corp level ? any of you history buffs know if CSA/Union divs had signal or med companies at div or corp level in real life ?

What im trying to put across is the question is there any kind of penalty for having 1 med unit in your corp stack looking after 3 divisions rather than have a med company in each of your 3 divs which would logically give your forces a bonus ?

The reason Ive been placing support units in Divs is due to my usual format of building units, a typical CSA div of mine normally consists of 2 large brigades (inf, cav, art) and then maybe an extra artillery and cav unit, so Id usually have just enough space left over that would fit in a support unit...

use of support units ?

Hi all,

Ive been playing about recently with the way I form up my divisions/corps/Armies and the way I use support units. Ive noticed that you can add signal/balloon or medical companies to divisions, is this a wise way to use these units or keep them in the corps or army stack ?

I think this game has got tons of re-playability, im close to finishing (and winning :) ) my second full campaign game as CSA, OK most of my game settings are on easy mode until i get to grips with the game, but am looking forward to my campaigns as the North and certainly bumping up the AI setting ...

What were the odds when your troops were attacked? If your troops are outnumbered, often they will retreat. odds were definately in my favour, a full army stack and a full corp stack - both well commanded, well supplied and at full strength. I had even won the battle its just straight afterwards th...

Help - units reverting to passive

For some reason units of mine keep on reverting to passive posture and I cant work out why, these are units that are within their command usage, well supplied and have decent leadership. For example im currently playing CSA and I want a Army and one of its corps to enter into Alexandria and lay sieg...
