As mentioned the Numidia event seems to disappears after a set period anyway. My speculation is simply that perhaps you selected it in the last turn before it would have timed out anyway.

Perhaps you selected options beyond your EP ability to pay for them? The game allow you to do that; e.g., select a 5 EP option and a 10 EP option, even if you only have 12 EP available. When that happens, the choice of which option actually gets played seems to be random (or perhaps based on the ord...

Yeah; you have to be a little careful in Spain. Hadrianus + 2 Legions can hold his own with a bit of luck, but he cannot stop everything, and if a big stack approaches, get out of the way. It's nothing to be worried about, though; once you can spare 2 or 3 Legions for the fight there, you'll almost ...

Have finally cracked this one as Marius, I think. It does require a bit of luck though; if you get caught in too many unfortunate battles or key maneuvers don't work out, you will end up losing slowly but surely. The key, as always, is to keep an eye on what matters - the VP. Rome is the main source...

Forces taking a long time to move

I've had a couple of cases where my units get "stuck" in a province; i.e., suddenly they go from moving through provinces in 4-7 days to taking 140 (or more) days to enter provinces (meaning that they do not move). I assume this is a bug, since it does not happen regularly, and I cannot see any obvi...

Exactly, but that's a problem for the developers... like you said, like Magitech. I was thinking about something else too. I read in your forum that you states your project is a little over-ambitious for a single man, and I agree with that ( main reason of time delay ).<...snip...> Thanks for the advice. I'm on the fence about the game mechanics/interface, which I did not feel were at all intuitive when I messed around with the demo; doing even the simplest actions seemed rather complicated. Interface needs a revamp for usability. But I'm with Arsan on the graphics. They may not be what I'd consider...

I agree with Jarrko that the primary draw of the Wii is how it has made gaming social and fun. The only game console I have is a Wii (in fact, it is the first one I've ever owned - before that I was 100% a PC gamer), and the reason is really very simple: it is the only console that has games that I ...

NPC could have been a lot better + I would love to see an ancient game set around the med - but a very different game, maybe a year per turn. Go see Slumdog Millionaire . An Indian "City of God" crossed with Hollywood feel-good movie-making that ends up (IMO) as a surprisingly great film. Great soundtrack too - the train sequence is awesome. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and it's not particularly "deep" as such, but it's definitely w...

The product may be given away for free, but users still require services (i.e., consulting, courses, and support). Big companies might also choose to release something as open-source/free because it supports some other element of their business strategy (e.g., IBM and the Eclipse project).

There exist open-source wargames already of course; "Battle for Westnoth" being perhaps the best example, and several Civilization clones. arsan, I am a bit surprised that you are unfamiliar with the thirty years war. But perhaps it is because you don't think of it in that context. For Spain, after all, the Thirty Years War was mainly just a sideshow of the Eighty Years War (1568 - 1648), i.e., the Dutch Rebellion. Of course, it may no...

Gameshark Review

Great review of ACW on Gameshark by Troy S. Goodfellow. Congrats. A quote: American Civil War demonstrates that AGEod is on to something. The recently released Napoleonic Campaigns is yet another variation on the system, and each version of the engine shows that Thibaut and company understand the di...

Look up Spam; more specifically Forum Spam.

There is a reason why at least one forum where you posted this exact same message deleted it out of hand; it is a simple matter of net-etiquette.

I would. The same person has been posting at least 10 message boards (probably many more). That makes the post above spam. Spam about a wargame perhaps (I'm not about to download it to find out whether its a virus or legitimate) - but still spam.

Read Sloperama Productions Game Design FAQs starting with #01 & #11. The writing may be somewhat snarky, but it is (or should be) required reading for anyone who is interested in game development (regardless of which aspect they may be interested in).
