I think the AI struggles, would be good to have a solution which doesn't make it easier on the player.

I like the 'simple' supply rules of this and BOA, they make more sense for the era. However, I am not a fan of being able to manually create supply networks with carts, it feels like gaming the system and rewards micro-management in a way that is counter to everything else about the game. I've alway...

I agree with Conrad about timed entry. It's so unlikely that a Protestant player will do so well as to void the reasons for Swedish entry. Ideally a random variation of 6 months either side of a fixed date would be perfect.

I played one game so far, Bohemian Revolt HRE. I really think it captures the difficulty of managing armies. I spent most of my time not doing anything and trying to make sure I kept the Austrian army intact. I didn't recruit much, luckily as I just about managed to stay solvent later in the game. I...

Waterloo is a great victory but it is not as decisive as portrayed by the English press and propaganda which his accepted by some history books. The real blow to Napoleon was the losses in Spain and Russia followed by the coup de grace in Leipzig. Even if Napoleon wins Waterloo, the Russian army wa...

I disagree on that, aside from Butler that is. In most of my games I enjoy irking Butler by promoting Nathaniel Lyon above him. Partly because Lyon looks a bit like me and shares my first name, but mostly because I dislike Butler. Freemont can be useful to bring loyalty up in contested regions like...

I agree with the general advice here, don't put anything you don't want to lose in a structure close to the enemy. I would add three others: Halleck, Freemont, and Butler as close to or if possible behind enemy lines. I used to send them all to Buffalo, but I hold out the vain hope that they will be...

I would agree with you if the Union troops had destroyed the food and infrastructure, and then prevented the civilians from leaving the area by rounding them up in camps or otherwise keeping them tied to a man-made wasteland. As it was, they were free to leave and take their chances elsewhere. In b...

I must respectfully disagree with this for two reasons. While the Shenandoah Valley Burning and March to Sea were brutal, spread fear and lawlessness, and resulted in civilian deaths, both indirectly and directly, neither was conducted for the sake of killing civilians, as the indiscriminate shelli...

It was decimation , no other word for it. Furthermore, the Franco-Prussian War fought 15 years later, did not see either side stoop to the depths that Lincoln went to in giving Sheridan and Sherman carteblanche to pursue a complete scorched earth policy, pitilessly inflicted upon southern non-comba...

Hi, After a fresh installation of ROP Gold I get the following: Game can't start, d3dx81ab.dll is missing I don't have the issue in the original ROP installation, which I bought from Ageod, only in the Matrix version gold download. Am I supposed to install the Gold version over the original version?

Is anyone playing the 1861 campaign? Has anyone run into issues? Just to confirm, I installed a clean version of 1.00 and applied the patch to the same directory. I have come across the following: 1) Cannot form Corps. Played as union up to mid 1862 and still can't form corps 2) Many event titles an...

Replacing*1 hit in a unit with 6 SP => 1/6 chance to consume one chit. That makes sense....kind of. If I have 1/10 or 1/6 chance to consume a ...

I know I'm about 3 years late, but just getting into the game quite recently. Would appreciate some help: 1) Replacements. Mouse Sensitivity

Hi, is there any way to adjust mouse sensitivity? My mouse is flying over the screen at light speed and I can't reall control the game.

I remember this was configurable in Great Invasions via a text file, is there a similar mechanism here?
