I finally installed Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 edition, and after some slow downs (even with the development environment), I launched the game and the antivirus asked me if WW1.exe is trusted. I answered yes, and the game ran fine and smooth. So I suggest to do so: - Open the "Main Console"...

I think it's better you first simply look at the list of processes in Task Manager. The issue will not be resolved by itself. I do not know what programs you are running on your PC, so I cannot help you. So open the Task Manager when the game is running, and examine carefully all processes that gra...

I know many will say Washington, but I disagree...talk about a loser..Look at New York..lost every battle...in the war he won only 2 battles and he fought 13. Gates isnt even on here...he and Charles Lee were the most incompitent Generals of the war. So I broke it down to the winning Generals..I pi...

Go to the Options window and adjust the "Movements on Map" slider to a low value. The tooltip clearly says: "Move this slider to set the delay time for Map movement animations. The higher you set this slider, the slower movement animations are performed on the map." I have already done that. I did ...

Game Speed

I know this is an issue I have touched on before but in another forum, it still seems to be unresolved. I was having trouble getting the game to run in a reasonable speed (it was taking 50 minutes to go through the movement phase) and with the help of another member I thought I had it fixed. The fir...

Promotions

I am just returning to the game and hev had trouble locating something in the rules.

I have a few questions regarding officer promotions.

How is it done? (I mean where in the interface is the button to do it?)

What determines when an officer is eligible for promotion?

Updated Manual

Does anyone have a link to the latest version of the Game Manual? I have just downloaded the 1.13 patch. I bought this game quite awhile ago and, I must say I was a bit disappointed at the time. I have noticed discussions of changes/updates and want to really try the game, again. Besides, I'm really...

How Do I Get The Game To Run Faster?

The game used to run fine. I installed 1.06 and the movement phase suddenly tok forever. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled the game with 1.05f. Now the game runs just as slow as with 1.06. Are there some settings I can change to make the game run faster? My last turn has taken over 45 min to cycle...

Slows The Game

Is there a reason that since I installed the 1.06 patch the game runs r-e-a-l s-l-o-w? The phase where the moves are executed literally take up to half an hour to complete.

This was not the case with 1.05f.

Does the general in question have to be the "Commander" or does he just have to be present in the battle, in a subordinate role, to gain 'seniority' points?

Groucho: 1) One of your recent opening statements was quote: "So? Is this game just a dog, or what?..." (I'm not even going to quote the rest of that particular post.) Not a good beginning when you expect to get answers from one of the lead programmer/developers, especially when his time is split b...

I responded in another thread I think. No. The actual mechanics of what exactly gains a General seniority and how was never answered. The Wiki rules just mention getting combat experience. I've been fighting battles for most of '61 with most of my generals and finally my Brigadier General (1 star) ...

How much seniority is gained and in what situations? I have several Generals who have participated in more than one battle and their seniority has not ...

Promoting Generals

I'm familiar with the fact that generals need to be exposed to combat to get promoted. I've been sending general after general into combat in '61 and only Adms Foote and Farragut have qualified for promotion. McClellan is seniority 1 and has combat experience and yet I cannot promote him. Someone po...

For river/rail/ocean transport the tooltip gives two numbers seperated by a slash. They are listed as current/maximal. While I agree the manual could use a bit of help, I'm not sure why you think the game is a dog. I bought it just after release, and still find it fun. What specifically do you dislike? If it's that you don't understand something, just fire away. The support here is pretty damn good. I am occupied f...

So? Is this game just a dog, or what? I have not gotten that far in a game but the rule book is TOTALLY inadequate. (I should not have to go to Wikipedia for a, still not very good, rule book for a game I paid $70 for.) I'm pretty p1ssed off. The potential for this game is there, but it was released...
