I like the initial choices of playable nations and hope that the game's follow on (expansion? VGN-2?) would opt for some more exotic choices. The reason I say that is that I would prefer the game be optimized for the initial nations and subsequently re-tuned or adapted to allow the others to be pla...

Superb recommendation. One of the best shows to ever grace American TV. The guys that wrote this show were former Baltimore police officers and one was a former newspaper reporter. What is unique about this show is that they try to maintain as much realism as possible. What this means to the viewer ...

Wanted to share similar sentiments. You guys do a hell of a job and I look forward to all the great work still to come. I do not have much free time to take on BoA2 at this time but I went ahead and bought it as a show of support for this lovely little company across the pond. :)

One of my favorite quotes from the Civil War is one of Forrest speaking to Bragg. It is utterly scathing and direct. "I have stood your meanness as long as I intend to. You have played the part of a damned scoundrel, and are a coward, and if you were any part of a man I would slap your jaws and forc...

..and keep in mind, that although a 'river area' may represent 20-30 miles, how many fords were actually useful? How many decent roads leading to fords? I don't think it's inconceivable that a 'gunboat' [which may actually be 2 boats or more' could patrol the stretch and inhibit crossings..... inhi...

Hi Cory - Absolutely loving this. Thanks for all the hard work. That really wasn't necessary for Butler or Fremont. Any Federal CinC who gives the AotP to either of 'em over 'lil Mac deserves the consequences. :siffle: I would agree with this. Moreso, if it were possible, make them senior to lil Ma...

While the tactical level simulation would be awesome. I would be most happy with more data in battle logs. I would love for all the battles in a campaign to be put into a database. That way I can look at the total casualty list and be able to see where the battle took place. how many people particip...

What is missing here is the differentiation between Grant and Lee. To say both are equal, and should be the same, is incorrect logic as they were both not 'equal' in how they were 'great' generals. Grant's greatness is represented by his ability to be tenacious. He didn't win his battles through fi...

Well, the same could also be said of Lee, that he made his mistakes early on (e.g., at the Seven Days; he was lucky to have survived his "mistake" of jeopardizing his army the way he did at Antietam). He, too, learned from them, quicker than Grant. But then McClellan with his incredible overcautiou...

Actually, Fort Donelson was nearly a disaster for Grant. In fact, it should have been, had Pillow not decided to retreat back to his defenses. While Grant was guarnateed the capture of Fort Donelson, he should honestly have lost the opportunity to capture the garrison. It was the timidness of Pillo...

I gave up reading his rant after about 8 pages and still no mention of the actual game. Around my friends I am known as the babbler and tangent maker. But I got nothing on this guy. In his defense I will say he has nice prose he just lacks any focus.

Anyone have the bridge notes from this thing? :P

Also, for those too lazy to read the PBS mini series called The Civil War by Ken Burns is excellent for a nice overview of the war. The pictures and voice overs are very nicely done. A good book if you want to learn more about why the Civil War came to pass is The Road to Disunion: Secessionists at ...

If I may so humbly point out, there were two views on the conflict. The Lost Cause by Edward A. Pollard :coeurs: I was initially wanting to read something from the Southern perspective. I had thought at the time of buying Foote's books that he was a bit of a Southern sympathizer. Having read almost...

I can't imagine that there is any book better than Shelby Foote's The Civil War. It is a 3 volume masterpiece that covers all the nooks and crannies of the war. In all it is about 2800 pages over three volumes and pretty much covers it all. I am intrigued by McPherson's Battle Cry, but I have not ye...
