For me maybe the most annoying thing about the storms is that your fleet commanders will stubbornly sail straight into storms. Sometimes into two different storms in different areas, practically guaranteeing their annihilation. Could we have a tickable option "navigare necesse est vivere non est ne...

Out of curiosity I started a new game without any AI detection bonus. So far I've seen no loss in the AI abilities to out fox me, it hasn't done anything stupid & whats more the AI even sends single cavalry units to scout the strength of my main force. I'm very impressed!

It's time! During the battle animation 3-4 sound files per round are set off. So having one long ambiant battle sound file would'nt work.

Unless there's a way round this, someone may know.....

the sounds will have to be super short... I see what you mean!! Pocus there are 4 long battle sound files ("AJE_land-battle-lrg-amb" ect ect) which are really good but I havent heard them in the game yet. Is there any way of using one of these longer files in the battle animation instead of the pre...

Advice Needed on Changing some sounds

I would like to change the sound FX of battles from the thud-crie-sword FX to ambiant battle sounds.

I've found the files in the sound folder but I don't want to experiment & risk CTD's!

So does anyone know the correct way to alter the sounds?

Next Turn & Replay buttons

The Next Turn & Replay buttons are side by side - a couple of times i've gone to click replay & hit next turn by mistake. Would it be possible to have next turn at the top of the 4 buttons with replay at the bottom?

I had no idea game balencing & coding was so complex! From my players perspective I would envision the loss of a legion triggering a descriptive event box & a loss of 2NM in a similer manner to other events. Anyway enough debate from me, I need to defeat Ceaser! (Augustus: "Quintus Varius - Where ar...

Interesting stuff.....but You can recruit any other type of unit without NM loss so the idea that NM is being affected through conscription & more power to the generals doesnt explain the NM loss in recruiting Legions. In fact enlisting in the Legions was more like a pledge of support to Rome - afte...

When you recruit a new legion or order a replacement for the Legatus Legionis element you loose 2 National Moral. I was wondering why is this - what does this represent historically?

More suggestions!

I second that, capturing enemy ships is a realistic outcome of such battles. Another fundimental tactic of the time apart from missile fire & boarding was Ramming. The ships were built around a large ram in the bow. If you wanted to sink an enemy ship you rammed it - if you ...

Siege/supply advice needed

I have Tarantium besieged, supplies are running short but its harbour is unblockaded. What is the best way to ensure the garrision gets enough supplies though the port? Is it: - putting transports in the shipping box? - Or having transports dock at the port? - Or having transports in the sea zone ne...

Quick Suggestion for Naval Battle Results

The naval battle results show the amount of men involved & their casulties. Why not also show the actual number of ships involved & ship losses, as well as casulties. It should be easy to do as in other ageod games the number of cannons are shown in the results. Knowing the number of ships on either...

Are Storms too deadly?

I was suprised that storms are so deadly in the game. Obviously ships will be sunk but surely other outcomes are possible - like DELAY while a fleet takes refuge from a storm in a nearby port or sheltered coastal region - or the fleet being SCATTERED...

Quick Suggestion: leader movement by sea

To move a leader by sea you need to embark him on a naval unit & move both to the destination. Since the load represented is just the leader & some staff surely he could just use a single ship instead of a whole fleet? This could be represented by the movement rate of a fast ship with the risks of s...

Tachankas construction time

I've noticed that it takes 70 days to construct tachankas & 30-45 days to construct horse/light/105mm artillery. Tachankas are basically carrages found everywhere with a machine gun mounted on them. Driving a carrage is a common civilian skill many in the ranks would already have & using a machine g...

Recruit prisnors suggestion

At the moment you can recruit 5000 POW's at a time (if you have them) gaining 50 conscript points. Why not alter this ammount based on the enemy's national moral reflecting the POW's willingness to escape the life of a prisinor to fight against their own side. Basically: - Low enemy NM = higher numb...

Capturing leaders suggestion & other after battle fates.

The only part this simulation that does'nt always ring true to me is the fate of leaders of badly lost battles. At the moment a leader can just be killed in battle or end up "recovering from injuries" for a 2-4ish turns in a nearby city after his formation is destroyed. Both realistic outcomes but t...

"Only Severe Disease [Pestilence] can now actually “kill” an element"

- For historical flavour prahaps you could change the name of "Pestilence" to "Spanish Influensa" or just "Influensa" as there was a severe world wide pandemic of it at the time.

In the force listings in strategic atlas (f1) there is a columb entitled "autonomy" . It seems by the very nature of the word to imply the ability for units to issue their own orders. Yet another 2 questions thread!

My 2 questions are: 1 - How do naval units spot land units? - I can imagin theres a chance of a ship close to the coast spotting a large encampment IF its NOT too far inland, but unless they landed patrols how could a ship get any more info than an estimate of size? 2 - What are the actual effects o...

I know it has been brought up before, but has anyone actually seen a instance where a commander was killed in the field?

I lost Hooker retaking Winchester early on in '61, there was even a message saying "the nation morns his loss" too!
