But it's more important than just the battle. For instance, if a leader has a cohesion bonus then it matters who's commanding during the turn.

Sounds like it's trying to save where it's not allowed to (Ageod games like saving to the game directory rather than to the user's directory).

You could install it outside Program Files or run it in admin mode (right click on program, etc.).

I've found messing around with the combining/recombining sometimes changes who's in command. But it didn't seem reliable.

But shouldn't the cavalry belong to the Scythian subfaction as well so that the Scythian leaders can command them effectively?

(and while I have your attention... what is the effect of combining? Does it somehow transmute the leader's nationality??? This seems even stranger)

Scythian leaders aren't true Scythians

In the Great Mithridatic war scenario, when Mithridates opts for the Scythian Alliance he gets two 'Scythian' commanders. Unfortunately, they don't have the ability to lead the cavalry that appear under their command (i.e. they're still affected by the command penalty). I'm assuming this is unintent...

But Pompey as I have him steadily advance south all these partisans appear out of nowhere and start taking back all the cities he just conquered which grinds my campaign to a halt. I don't think so, based on the response I received here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?28792-Can-t-recruit-Numidian-replacements-in-Marius-vs-Sulla I'm just noticing that I can't replace Spanish garrison losses as the Populares in the same scenario (Gallic swordsmen). Maybe there's a rat...

Yes, it would definitely be good if loyalty influenced AutoGarrison. Would make loyalty in civil wars far more important.

My opponent, unfortunately, has legions as well as Numidians in Africa at the moment, unlike me...

The ships are Lycian, from Selinus (unlocked due to Lucullus).

Sorry, didn't know the nationality until I looked.

Can't recruit Numidian replacements in Marius vs. Sulla

Hi,

My PBEM opponent has opened up the African theatre, and I (Sulla) can't purchase any replacements except Cavalry for my Numidian forces... this is a bit of a problem!

Also, can't seem to get replacements for the 'green' Hellenistic warships.

Intended?

AI Nation file crash

I think that if you switch to AI nations in the load screen, move to a page later than exists in the standard load, switch back, the move up, it crashes. What happened: I have one page of saves. Clicking 'AI' creates 2 pages. I move to the second page. I click 'AI' again. I click 'up'. Crash. Also, ...

It seems like garrisons should fight harder when they do fight, but have a much higher chance of surrendering to 'friendly' sides if there's an NM disadvantage (e.g. surrender to apparent winners in civil war).

Overall victory determination is really annoying

Just played a game as Vitellius, ending up on ~2000VP (vs. Vespasian on 1200VP). Controlled all my objectives except Carthage and Colonia Agrippina. 139NM vs 60NM. However, when the final podium was displayed Vespasian was on top, 679 to 677, even though I was still awarded a minor victory (?). How ...

Rufus not Strabo?

It seems like Quintus Pompeius Rufus is in command of the Picenum legions in the 87BC campaign... shouldn't this be Strabo? At least Wikipedia assures me that Rufus died in 88BC after Strabo instigated a mutiny.

Engine comment - wouldn't it be great if the AI worked in the background?

I'm assuming someone's brought this up before and it's technically difficult, but it would make the game _much_ nicer if the AI 'thought' while you were thinking. The experience would be much snappier.

Can we pay for a DLC for this? :P

[AJE] Looking for two other players for Marius vs. Sulla (+ Mithridates)

It's very frustrating playing against the computer in this scenario (too much of them fighting the other computer), so I was thinking a 3 player game might be fun.

Some experience with BoA, and played Spartacus and Marius vs. Sulla in AJE against the computer so far.

Overall victory determination in Marius vs. Sulla

So, after fiddling with Spartacus in 1.00, I finally got to playing the game properly in 1.02. Since Sulla was supposed to be easy, I tried him; crushed the Pontics (finally) but never got back to Rome in time. This left me with 4000 or so VP (easily more than anyone else), so a 'minor victory'. How...
