Hullo, i'm getting annoyed by this patch i have downloaded it twice from AGEOD at a net cost of 350M in bandwidth and when you click open or extract using winzip you get: Extracting to "C:\Users\Fish\Desktop\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no Warning: skipping "Patch_PON_1.02.exe". The 32-bit CRC sto...

there's a reference to them in one of the ospreys (Austro-Hungarian Army of the Seven Years War) at google books if you google 'hungarian insurrectio' they're described as an 'almost fictional noble levy' they were mobilised in the 1809 war and comprised part of Archduke John's column supposed to re...

btw, i need to go back a couple of turns (since it was too much fun fooling around with the daun clone) but to be serious i should reload but i cant figure out how to load a backup file (would have to be backup 3 or 4) within ROP . . .

Double Daun!

this is a wonderful bug, but i suppose it should be fixed. i was re-org'ing forces in the prague area and somehow managed to duplicate daun! :mdr: i appointed the daun-clone as a column commander under his original army-commander self which gave the column-commanding-daun-clone an attack rating of 7...

and they show koeniggratz on the wrong side of the river . . .

another element to take into account is koeniggratz' natural defences; it occupies the angle between two rivers, the elbe and the orlice, which means it can only be attacked from one direction.

this is easily checked on google maps.

Nikel, yes, Josef II built a fortress at koniggratz after the SYW; his fortress would have to be a level 3 or better in ROP terms surely? In fact Josef's koniggratz fortress held out against the Prussians in 1866, along with Theresienstadt and Josefstadt. I was addressing the OP's claim that the tow...

I don't agree that fortresses are too easy; in some cases they are more difficult than historical glatz in 1760 and schwiednitz in 1761 were stormed by loudon with brilliant surprise assaults, without regular sieges, both fortresses taken undamaged in ROP an assault cannot be launched until a breach...

roads and pathfinding

the game is fantastic :coeurs: only a few things to tidy up one is, often units don't follow roads and highways when setting paths; it seems to be faster to go by the route involving fewest areas rather than along highways sometimes the pathfinder says is faster to cross back and forwards along unbr...

overall the internal dimensions of the bohemian regions still seem askew. the interior of Bohemia is sort of ok but the mountains on the saxon/bohemian border still aren't right the crestline of the range is south of the border so there should be a chain of mountains on the Austrian side of the border, not 2 areas into Saxony eg, the deepest part of the elbe gorge is betw...

Austria wasn't organised for war the same way Prussia was; Prussia's militarisation and militarism was the reason France and Russia were willing to ally with Austria. Prussia was a clear and present danger to non-militarist powers. And anyway, nothing wrong with a little Austria-boosting  ...
