Just finished the one-year Western Theater scenario as confederates and lost to the AI. Great fun. I found that setting the AI to aggressive and reckless is the best, funnest way to play her. A slight AI bonus for spotting is also justifiable given the human has a more cognitive advantage by nature....

Someone give this man a cigar, courtesy of the "hours of needless suffering" department.
It works just fine in the game. Remember, the max baseline Command Points you can have in an Army or Corps stack is 16. This is achieved in a Corps, for example, by say the 2-star commander (8CP), and two 1-star leaders (4CP each = 8CP). This then can only be increased beyond 16 by a balloon, Signal...
This graphic anomaly didn't get picked up with the latest round of patchwork - also the thread about the "Congress returns to Philadelphia" message that keeps appearing may have been missed.
Any chance that these could be made "official" fixes?
I was able to make the tooltip read correctly by changing the value for "TerrainType" in the .rgn files. It seems to effect movement correctly but whether or not it addresses all game functions I'm not sure. I think the structures are fine so it's not the cities data that needs the fix. I attached t...
It looks like the area with Dorcester should be clear, but the tooltip says woods. and the area with Worcester should be woods or even forest, but the tooltip say clear. Which is right?
Thanks deguerra, that's very interesting. I have managed to install a version without the problem - it almost seems random. No clue as to the reason at the moment. Did you have the problem with the Pontiac scenario or a stock scenario? My PBEM opponent in King William's War did not get this problem...
It would be a great improvement if we could see both the battle 'wheel' animation and the Range - Hour commentary in the text display at the bottom of the page at the same time.
Not sure if this was always the case before RC-11, but it don't happen anymore.
Patch is on hold for now, as the main contributor, Lodilefty, is not available for at least several weeks. If you do spot code bugs though, I can always make a quick patch to fix the issue. One bug I find annoying is when I lose an NM and several VP's when a couple of obscure elements surrender in ...
using the latest beta patch RC 11, 1775 Campaign. Twice so far the FI value has taken some major leaps back and forth between 40's down to 10's and then gradually back up to 40's. Recently it's jumped back at 100 but either way I never receive a message about what's going on except when a diplomat r...
I get this message every turn as well; I hope this fixes it.
But also, If the British re-capture Philadelphia I get the "...Congress has left Philadelphia..." message every turn thereafter. Will this edit fix that?
I noticed similar results as well as I played more of the F&IW campaign as French. When a indian village with a few 'braves' elements surrendered I'm notified that I lose 2 VP and an NM point. I guess I understand the 2 VP for the lost elements (?) but to lose an NM point seems a bit over the top. I...
I usually turn off the battle circle "animation" so that I can get the hourly reports of how I am closing with the enemy at the bottom of the screen. These reports come in the form of ranges of 4,3,2,1 down to "assault" over the course of each round of combat. The audio will give you some idea of wh...
Thanks again. I found a better way (for me anyway) - using the unit list and filtering "irregular" units. The rules state that Irregular units and Partisans may only take control of a structure if the Loyalty of the region is greater than 50%. Since Loyalty is not in effect during the F&IW these typ...
What's the best way to know if a unit is "irregular"? i.e. whether it can/cannot change control an enemy region or a structure? For an example of my confusion, digging through the model files it seems that some American "light infantry" are regular but some French "light infantry" are irregular. Als...
I believe it's because Indian units are considered as raiders and cannot capture forts by them alone (they need some "whitemen" units too). But they can burn it down  There were French Courriers elements (Deschamp) in the stack with the natives until they finally deserted, leaving Deschamp by...
Playing the FIW campaign with latest beta patch as French and I've been trying to capture Ft. Halifax, but nothing happens! No enemy is in there, I checked the AI side. It says I own 100% of the region, but that I'm just besieging the city. Tried to enter it by attacking several times to no avail, m...
You should see 1 VP for each strategic town and 2 VP's for each objective in this scenario. The objectives are 'valued' at 3 NM so they are worth 2VP each per Pg 11 of the manual. You only get points for "elements" destroyed, not men killed. Most miltary units are worth 1 VP per element, but those s...
Coming back to AACW after several months I'm experiencing several nice improvements; in both graphics and game mechanics. What is sorely needed is for the documentation to be updated. I would have no objection to halting support of the software to concentrate on updating the documention, quick refer...
The Kentucky scenario that comes with Grey's latest update mentions objectives on the Mississippi and further West, but the allowable play area is only Kentucky and Tennessee.
Does anyone know where county-level data about the election returns of 1860 might be posted on the Internet? I've searched, but can't find any (only state level). There's a fairly detailed map on page 236 of the Oxford press paperback version of McPherson's "Battlecry of Freedom" where the counties...
Playing the Confederates in the April '61 campaign I was noticing this behavior as well, large formations headed into the Rockies and Southwest and raids into Texas and Sherman is sitting in Tuscon with a rather large Corps. - glad it is being fixed. Also - 2 areas in Texas have 'railroad' in the to...
v 1.09 Lee is absent in Richmond in 1862 East theater scenario. Then in late 1862 I get the Message that he is available and unlocked, and he still is no where to be seen.
