I just finished the short campaign 1762-'63 (as Prussia, a good next step after the saxon campaign: fairly short, leaving out the Swedes and no russian front). I went for the objectives. I attacked Kassel, Saxony and the silesian border fortresses. Athena offered battle at each of them, with signifi...

Just had a look at the map around Breslau and noticed that the river flowing there into the Oder is called Glatzer Neisse but does actually not pass Glatz. Looking at Google Maps I found the Glatzer Neisse flowing north through Glatz ( fort on the eastern bank ), then east through Neisse ( fort nort...

Army initiating combat and special abilities

If I am not completely mistaken, in AACW an Army stack could not initiate combat itself but just support friendly forces or defend itself. Is this the same in RoP? Thinking about giving Fritz some extra experience by staffing his stack with some serious combat power and sending him for some easy vic...

Two questions on that, also based on the english manual (Chapter 10.4.3): 1. You say the wagons can also supply troops in adjacent regions...

... Evade is mostly used to move without being intercepted. It can really work reliably if your force is small and/or has a lot of cavalry or skirmishers. The retreat chance and the evade chance are not using the same formula but most if not all of the parameters used in one is used in the other, s...

Book suggestions and helpful links

Well, I don't really have any myself, but I would be interested in some book suggestions on the era. I don't want to start without any book suggestion, so I add a link to a contemporary book on the Seven Years War: Archenholz, Johann Wilhelm von - Geschichte des siebenjährigen Krieges in Deutschland...

You might check your transport capacities as well, in your case rail and riverine in particular. If you have not invested in those or are shipping/railing large armies around this will reduce your transport capacities in the supply phase.

What does qualify as a move here for the Richmond event?! Would a small cavalry raid already qualify (I'd assume no)? Or is it bound to have an army command there?! Or is it again required to gain a certain level of military control of one of these regions? And is it just checked at the end of the t...

When you can model the "intelligence" needed to win a Chess game with a simple algorithm that uses Brute force and a simple decision rule like the Minimax, it clearly shows you that the complexity of the game is not that big. Yes, chess needs a "crude" algorithm but because computers and humans are...

Yepp, Banks risked a lot in his last 'campaign', but he also won a lot of time by it. And usually that's how you 'win' time, by trading ground or resources. Possible that we see the end of it, if Franklin reaches Burkeville in time - half the way he can rail, so he should do it. That would be up to ~60k for the Union vs. ~60k CSA troops. As Banks planned to split his attack, it will look more like this ⋅ Jacksons 20k vs. Whipple 14k + Franklin...
