Just thought I would stop by again. As I mentioned in the previous post, I had picked up a Win 7 Pro desktop system. This was really a Dell low end system that makes no noise and creates zero heat. But you really cannot do software with intense graphics. Nevertheless, it runs BoA very well. It is am...

Just another system. This time a 64 bit Win 7 desktop system. I ported BoA over and it runs perfectly there too. So, I will get another 5 years or more with BoA. Since Ageod stopped updating this game long ago, I could mod away without any worry that a future update would mess with the mods.

I am no longer qualified to answer that question. During my experience with BoA, the developers allowed us to use modding tools on the various games. I did so to great extent over the years. This modding greatly enhanced my overall experience with the game. But I chose to mod BoA rather than BoA2. F...

Having Fun

I was able to migrate BoA v 1.12a to a Win 7 64 bit laptop. No apparent problems so far.

I hope everyone is well. I have had more fun with this game down through the years. It is astonishing to me. I never thought this would happen.

You seem to be rubbishing AGEOD today Moriety. I realise the weather was bad in London today, did you get hit by a falling tree? You seem to be rubbishing Moriety. As a general rule, or a matter of rote, I suggest to all potential users, research every game before purchasing a license and always po...

Hmmm... There was alot of stuff that needed to be modified in original BoA. There are a number of BoA threads I started in the forum enumerating the various changes. I was willing to make these modifications, because I thought modding to be a hobby. I use BoA v 1.12a. I never purchased another Ageod...

Hi All,

I finally got some time to add the Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville scenarios. It was pretty simp, considering I had most of the units and the commanders already in the data base.

OK, now I know I am done. I am not really going to do the French or Spanish, even though the Spanish soldiers of this era, looked very close to French soldier. There just isn't any territory for them. All the regions on the map are taken up by the Union, Confederates, and the English, except for Hai...

Victory Points

All this talk about these wacky scripts makes me think of Victory points. Someone was in thread a while back and was wondering if the scripts themselves award victory points to the factions/players? The answer is NO, they do not. But my understanding, is that through the course of winning and losing...

Well if BoA (and I mean v 1.12a which is DX 8) works on Win 8, and it would seem that is does, I can forsee another 5 years or more with this game system (BoA). In the end, BoA was a very solid system with a solid design. I am in my seventh year of messin with this game, at is has been a real blast....

Back to ACW. I spent part of the day finish the English Infasturcture, which inlcuded Haiti as a sub-faction. You would think France? But England is the 3rd playable faction in this game and Haiti has only Port-au-Prince, so England should protect her. France is in Mexico, which is OFF MAP. But I ca...

Stand in the Place Where You Live

OK, this new script works perfect. Just like the last one, but I am more clever since I realized I did not need to use the eval statements. So Good! Right! Nope, we are done with the EASY part. The script properly creates units in the Great Plains or the Ocean Sea, and accounts for each trader, or c...

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Great Plains Off Map Box, was a blessing in disquise. The BoA map really ends in Nashville, Tennessee, but now this one OMB can be used to represent everything in the West. There are just not Indian traders passing through. There are Indian Warriors, Wagon Trains, Bandidos, Jayhawkers, Bushwacke...

We noticed that Boa worked (perhaps perectly) on a Win 8 OS, without having to use Compatability Mode. Does anyone have information on older Ageod titles using this OS?

I decided to go with the Generic Major and Brigadeer leaders for stuff that did not have an actual leader portrait. See the attached pic. They look nice. You can arrange the nomainclature that displays on the Detail Popup to describe these officers as Staff. And for converting the Great Lakes to ACW...

Here is one I did a long time ago. It is the 1813 Great Lakes Campaign, but set to 1863. It is fictional, but it is just as much fun as the original. Sometimes, I like to play with the Army and Fleet graphics on top (not the leaders). I keep thinking, I am going to set some of the old forts back to ...

The Great Plains

For now, Indian Traders only enter the game in the Great Plains. Later on, I will probably add some frontier forts, and western cities to their possible location list (RegList). Merchant traders, if you recall, can visit a gazillion Ocean regions while they trade goods while trying to stay away from...

Robo Indian Traders

Well, I re-worked the Robo merchant script, and now it is 100% failsafe, and sports some new features. I was also able to clone it and use it for Robo Indian Traders, that function the same way as the Merchants. Here are the new features. Less code, and now I deliberately put non-unique unit names i...

Ok, I do believe I am done messing with the Virginia scenarios for now. I decided to add a few Western cities to the map. Just to show the sheer vastness and emptiness of the BoA map. Its a great map. So, I added Cincinatti, Nashville, and Chattanooga. For fun I relocated the Western Flotilla to Cin...

There are the River Flotillas too. SoA doesn't have the Mississippi River, otherwise we could have the Mississippi Flotilla. But there is still the Western and Potomac Flotillas.

Gosh! - I completely forgot that there is a Blockade Flotilla unit. I had been doing this with individual ship models. [slaps forehead] So, as it turns out, I only need 3 Blockade Flotillas (I abreviated their names) as follows: Gulf [Blockade Flotilla], Atlantic, and Roads. There are CSA ironclads ...

Sometimes the AI breaks up its corps and floods the zone (Virginia). Other times it makes a killer stack. When you start a scenario, you never know which mode you are going to get.

Check out the pic, and note the number of units and generals involved.

OK,

Me thinks I am done for now. I made some quickie CSA Army and Fleet bullets (not my strong suit). :neener:

So, graphics are done, data is done, and going forward, maybe I will add some scenarios in North Carolina and Georgia.

Here is Antietam. Jackson has captured Washington. Stuart was holding Sharpsburg but had to retreat. I had to give up on using the Sudden Death rule, since the AI just doesn't understand the concept of Sudden Death. :neener: And, I am trying various Objective configurations. The one that seems to be...

Here is an unusual pic showing Union forces mostly in Maryland. Actually, Lincoln would have loved the AI. The AI is very brave, and whenever it assembles even a moderate force, it immediately sends it on its way to Richmond. Also, note the Ironclad being used in a bombardment role. Most useful. Als...

Since it is now Civil War times, I changed Privateers (USA only up to 1812), to Commerce Raider. Both CSA and USA have raiders. I know, its Union propaganda that called their raiders - Commerce Raider Hunters, but when you think about it, they are all raiders. :D So, Raiders try to find and destroy ...
