AFAIK you never could add fort artillery to a division. Even if you could I wouldn't do it, unless you never wanted to move that division again. I have the same thing with captured artillery. It apparently has to do with the captured unit having a different nationality. Whether it's a bug or not, I...

Yeah, I think just about all of us "strategy types" have their own mixed-message story concerning Paradox... an apt name if there ever was one! ;) On one hand, I want a game company to push the boundaries of war/strategic gaming as we know it. So, Paradox gets points in my book for doing so. However...

Good to see the usual suspects still hammering away guys. Although I haven't played in a while, I appreciate the effort. I also feel work such as this cannot help but have a positive impact on AACW2, although it may seem small potatoes to some.

Good luck and good hunting!

Ah yes, I have my own copy on the bookshelf Pocus! I also like TSS, although it played best as a team game (more fun too). Also, the remake of War Between the States by Decision Games. I have waaaay too many boardgames, and computer games... Here's to looking forward to a stellar second vers...

Yeah, I kind of like those solutions too Runyan. My "wishes" have more to do with the technical side of a future AACW game than features (not that I don't have a few of those in my other pocket!). I wonder if there is a better database approach with the newer games AGEOD has released compared to AAC...

Maybe it's time to move on...

This is a tough subject to bring up for me, but I feel it needs to be said. I have been part of the AACW community here since the beginning, and I must say that it has, for the most part, been a great experience. I love the game and AGEOD's support. Having said that, based on events that have unfold...

I've been using a dual monitor setup since early this year. My main monitor is a Viewsonic VX2433 1080p 1920x1080, the secondary is an older LG L1932 4:3 1280x1024. I am really glad I kept it, as 4:3 monitors are getting very hard to find now. I am a bit worried what to do if this one gives up the g...

Well, this is sobering news Gray, but not really unexpected. I think modification of existing code base with "new" modules (I assume AGEOD uses a version of C) is one of the most challenging of tasks for a programmer. So many variables and combinations to consider. About the only thing I can think o...

Or possibly a game rule where players are required to station garrison troops within a set of to-be-determined "rear" locations of value, otherwise they lose x amount of VP/NM (again, TBD) per turn if they are not. I think this would solve more than one "problem" our AACW community seems to have. Ob...

Well, Gray, I am perfectly aware how the game engine "sees" unit strenghts and casualties. It is just that I do not care, specially while I am gaming. Of course men, horses, guns are just "flavour". So is all the GUI, map included. The game engine does not need general's pictures and correct names....

An older discussion of Industrialization

Hi Guys:

Here is a link to a previous discussion of Industrialization with input from AGEOD. It may be slightly outdated, you'd have to ask Gray Lensman, but for the most part it covers the things people have asked here:

CSA War Supplies

Hope this helps! :sherlock:

Although there are many ways to play as the Confederates in AACW, there is one undeniable fact- you will likely never have as great a chance to make progress as you will in the first year of the war (all things being equal). The Union will only grow in strength, and here is the kicker... you start w...

I voted no but then I see it from this perspective - the more you have to change then inevitably the more you have to fix. The more of a headache you are giving yourself when there are other projects on going that might add more to the game more immediately. I think they call that "the law of unint...

Small problem with v1.13

Hi guys: Loving the latest patch, thanks for all the hard work. This is pretty low priority, but I found the following display error when making the rounds on the map during my first game: When you enable the "stategic cities" map overlay, some cities don't show up as shaded (even though the tooltip...

Havely here. (Mae is resting her sweet little self with a dainty little nap. ;) ) Nobody has mentioned the importance (IMHO) of the CSA building a Level 2 fort at Norfolk. Gray is correct. My doctrine is to take advantage of every gamey rule in every gamey way I can. Banks knows this. I'm unapologetic about it, my opponents tend to become stronger advocates for realistic solutions, as in this case. In our game, I've bought bunches of 6lb and 12 lb guns, and I am usin...

I would personally like to see feedback and comments as long as it is kept on-topic. This wasn't an issue with my last (albeit short) AAR. I think everyone who takes the time to put an AAR together wants to hear from the "club" as to how they did, etc.
I know I did.
