Well, if you think obscure topics can't succeed then take a look at Norm Koger, he always went for the less popular subjects. Still, as far as I know he still sells games based on such obscure topics as Russian Japanese naval operations. It is all about the game quality in the end and some good mark...

I think the main benefit for WITP is the one main forum they have, AGEOD is spread thinly around too many forums. Maybe the best is to migrate fully with Paradox. Also. Gary Grigsby is as famous as you get in the wargame field, everything he does automatically gathers more fans due to his history. I...

We still want to improve on game speed, but now it will be harder, so it will need more hours put in development, although this is still quite possible to do better. Not that I want to disparage this great game I love, but Civ IV took more than 5 mn in turn processing in the end game, for me (now I...

I was partly thinking how US often ended up supporting democratic movements in contrast to the European nations. Like this example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_Shuster This was actually exactly what I meant with my references to the principles of the Revolution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A...

I refered to the principles of American Revolution, you know the detail about freedom ;) . My short answer is that African colonisation shouldn't really happen earlier tha 75 or so. The scramble should happen roughly when it did so historically, witj some what if. I agree 100 % with vaalen but I als...

I get the idea of going for what if scenarios though.

Maybe Acs could be given more say over these matters!

Yes but those were about sphere of influence rather than colonial exploitation.

We could get into a historians spiff here but... Just to clarify, I don't believe the US had any interest in "Liberation". Liberia was a way to get rid of some free blacks. They established their own oligarchy that was supported, slightly, but US business interests. I can see what-if scenarios wher...

I don't follow the comment (fragment?) about the US either. Did you press the post button when you intended to press the preview/go advanced button, perhaps?

I mean that colonization would be against the ideas of the Republic.

Still. Could any of the betas/devs answer why you ditched the good things you already had? The AACW ledger is way way better than this, why did you backwards in design? F4 is not that bad initself but maybe some general summary screens are still needed. Certainly no reason to shelf the game at least...

Maybe we should add a chip in feature. AGEOD states what each feature would cost, once the donations reach that level they do it ;) . Seriously though. All these ideas would be good to save for the expansion, that is when development costs are justified ;) . Plus, now AGEOD has a huge advantage sinc...

Still, from 1880 and onwards it was a fairly level field when it came to colonization and involvement in World affairs. Japan were of course lagging but still had a chance to make an impression in East Asia.

1880 or the other idea of 1900 would be perfect for mp games in my book.

Well, there is a reason why this period was called Pax Britannica. The United Kingdom was at their peak during this century and it is more than fair to compare with the Roman Empire during their peak. As Japan your chances of disrupting UK.s plans are minimal so it is more the case of AI doing it be...

The way Pax Britannica worked was like this. It started 1880 and ended once all the major powers were at war with eachother. WW1 was out of scope for that game. I think a similar scenario would be perfect for PON. 1880 until maybe 3 or more major powers are at war in Europe. I am not sure if this ga...

In that case I think a finalized 1.02 would be a good start, too many restarts otherwise ;) .

Btw. Those here who have finished War in the East PBEM, how long are those games typically? I guess nobody managed a full campaign.

The 1880 start?

I was a bit unsure about this. Is this scheduled for a patch or DLC?

Personally I think this start will be perfect for mp games. Somewhat shorter but not only that, Japan becomes much more interesting due to having some modernization etc.

I can understand that. Even I as an experienced user consider those things, with experience also comes some gung ho mentality sometimes ;) .

The recommendation given above is good. Make an extra backup of the folders and then delete them as instructed, then move over the folders from the zip file.
