I can relate to the sympathy about the game. It has captured my attention. However, I have difficulty relating to the divorce issue. This August will mark 29 years of my wife putting up with my faults. She learned early that my vice (games that make me think) is not that destructive, doesn't involve...

Since there are known and confirmed crash bugs associated with this v1.01g patch, my personal recommendation is to revert back to the v1.02_2 patch (intenally known as v1.01f). Just don't browse the 2D building cards, might be unavoidable also. :( Is the "Directx to Main invalid call (Burst Mode)" ...

@Aragos: do you convert gold to money? I had not tried the gold mine approach yet, and had decided to begin again tonight with the Mechanical Goods factory on turn one. Otherwise, I had discovered the rest.

@Willgamer:I've not gone as sparse at the beginning as that, but will give it a try.

I no longer have that save game - I have been restarting a lot to figure things out. I am guessing that I hit one of the magic Microsoft key combinations and that when I changed things back, it undid it. I cannot duplicate it.

I believe I changed the number of units from normal to +50%.

The stack of leaders in Washington, DC would switch to a different unit each click, without selecting it. Some of them were active. These could not be dragged to a new location. I can try again, if it would help.

I'm half clueless much of the time, but it is a very amused clueless.

I went into the options to bump up the difficulty a bit and could no longer select military units. When I changed it back, things worked normally. Is this a bug or a feature.

The key seems to find a routine and follow it. Learn to look at things in a particular order and do it that way unless you need to react. Time is paused during the turn, so there is no hurry.

In 1862, I got the message about the new generals. However, a sneaky Confederate cavalry moved outside of D.C. and cut the rail line. The generals did not arrive on the map.
