Patch download woes

Gents, I'm having the devil's own time trying to get the 1.15 patch downloaded. After downloading the patch, extracting with 7zip always (after multiple attempts from multiple locations) gives me a corrupt file message, and using XP's built in tool, I get asked for a password. Any ideas? Edit - The ...

Punched copies of "Terrible Swift Sword" go for about $40-50 on Ebay, and depending on the condition and title, the others should go for a like amount.

ACW on the board

AGEODs ACW is, of course, da bomb :coeurs: when it comes to PC ACW games...and one of the reasons I love it is that it looks and plays much like a boardgame! I just recieved Renaud Verlaque's "The Price of Freedom", a strategic level ACW boardgame. It covers the whole war in eight turns(!) and is su...

The game seems stable with (vers 1.09 beta 4). I am disturbed, however, that with all this constant improvement to the game I still suck as a commander, however.

This sort of continued support is mind boggling. I'm used to a patch or two, then "live with it", and the only thing the company forum is really used for is an echo chamber.

AGEOD is to gaming as a Filet Mignon is to a Big Mac.

Try " Age of Napoleon ", Renaud Verlaque's strategic level Napoleonic game. The components are sheer eye candy, and the game plays quickly enough where it is a realistic prospect for a couple of gamers with a weekend open. The main claim against AoN is that the game can swing on the luck of the draw...

"To retain respect for sausages and laws, one must not watch them in the making." Bismarck may or may not have said that, but to some extent I'd include AACW patches with the legal edicts and wurst. Wiki linked via Web Grognards

Web Grognards now has a link to the AACW Wiki.

I think the Wiki is a great tool for someone who has tried the demo but is still too intimidated by the depth of the game to buy it, besides being a great resource for owners of AACW.

I found the game to be daunting at first, and still have to fight the urge to "rush" through a turn...very much so when I'm tired! I've yet to go PBEM, and I may never do so, but I found that sticking with it after a few false starts led to the various systems "clicking" after awhile. I think that h...

I'm not a casual gamer, more of a serious gamer that's not too bright, and I recommend it to anyone who will listen, and some that won't. I'm not meticulous, but I still muddle through AACW. The war is won, but where's the party?

At last, I've managed a win as the Rebs (early 1864, NM went over 175) and after viewing the victory message, it struck me as not fitting the epic nature of the AACW campaign game. I know a lot of grogs sneer :p apy: at endgame "rewards", and I'm not asking for a CGI cut scene of the Army of Norther...

1864 Elections

I'm finishing my first game against the Union AI, and I've been patching as I go along. I took Washington early on, held on to MO, and was pretty much in charge of KY until late 1863. The Yankees skedaddled the government to NY, and if I was a smart rebel I would have dug in and traded my newly acqu...
